How to turn off tpms warning

I have winter tires. I didn't buy sensors. It gives me a warning and a warning light. Is there a way to turn that off? Is there a way to tell the car, " I don't have tires with sensors"? I thought this would be on here already, but I can't find anything

Here`s a trick I heard about so I don`t know for a fact that it will work. If you have a spare tire (and by "spare tire" I mean one you`re not going to use for obvious reasons) take your sensors and place them inside the spare and inflate the spare to the right PSI.

I dont really want to unmount all the tires from the wheels to get the sensors out. It looks like I have some huge engine error or something with that yellow light on the whole time.

I believe you can clear the main TPS message by hitting the menu button on the turn signal but it must be done everytime you start the car.The little yellow tire light will still stay on. I would just buy four new sensors and do it correctly.

Starting in 2008, all cars must come equipped with the TPMS and it be undefeatable by the end user. Even KATECH had issues when they converted a C6 Corvette into a fullout race car and tried to get rid of the system. The only trick I'e seen it to remove all the seonsors, put them into a sealed canister, and fill to the correct psi, leave inside car. That was with one of the drag race vettes on another forum. It still didn't work 100% of the time. I agree, just live with it and do it right or live with the glowing light in your face .

wont work, the tires/sensors need to rotate to activate the sensors to send out their signal to the bcm

Heres a trick I did on my wifes 09 Tacaoma 4x4 when we added new wheels and tires. Take the gauge cluster out and place a small peice of black electrical tape between the light hole and behind the guage film. That blocked the tell-tell light. It is actually still on but I can't see it so I am happy.

This seems like alot of work for a few months of winter.....then once the summer tires are re-installed the tape should be removed....if you want the TPMS to work.

Just buy four new sensors and be done with it.Its a small price to pay and then both your winter & summer tires/wheels will work as they should.

It is just to turn off the little light, you would still see the pressure on the center gauge menu's if you wanted to leave it covered up.

This is an undefeatable system as far as I know. It was mandated by the Federal Gov't (thanks, big brother) because of the Ford Explorer/Firestone tire rollover issue, I think. If we're too lazy to check our tire pressure, the Government will make the automakers do it for us.

Here is the 2nd question: How much do these tire sensors cost? Im not going to remove the original ones from my summer tires. Tirerack wanted over 200.00 for them. Thats why I didnt get them. Is there any that are cheap I can get? What kind?

When i bought my CCW wheels i also bought the sensors with the metal valvestems. I believe they are slightly morre expensive than the rubber style and i paid $200 for all four. I would check the classifieds or ebay for an original GM set.I see alot of Camaro wheels and accessories for sale.Even at $200 its probably worth the $$ to solve your problem and you will be set all year round.
