Are the Camaro Forums Social Media?

The wife and I were talking this morning about the ills of social media, kids, the good and bad if it all, etc. It occurred to me that I might be a ‘user.’ Its got the car love, the car hate, the occasional bully (ha) and is something we do online. Yea or nay?

Its more of an online reality show....sometimes it has a Honey Boo Boo vibe..other times it rivals Keeping up with the Kardashians. When the V6 guys get chest pumping Naked and Afraid comes to mind haha. Of course I post stuff like this to get the Jersey Shore arguments going.

Perhaps by definition an online forum would be considered social media, but unlike typical mainstream social media outlets this is a place where people come to share ideas, educate themselves, and otherwise share one of their hobbies/pastimes with other (potentially) like-minded individuals, rather than destroying their potential and motivation and initiative to do something with their lives in an effort to tell the world how the feel about every stupid, meaningless thought that comes to their weak, corrupt minds, oblivious to the realization that they're slowly getting dumber, and more ignorant day by day about what's really going on in this world.

Does it really matter? If you use it properly and ignore the BS, there is no issue.

According to my kids, it is. They like to occasionally tease dear old dad about posting on the Camaro forum, the coin forum and the finance forum. Then I threaten to shut down the internet router and they shape up right quick.

I don't typically visit the general discussion part of this forum, but when I do... well, I know what you mean

I generally stick to the technical forums here to try and educate myself and others. I try to do my part in society and help humanity grow and learn and prosper, if even just on a car forum.

Funny how almost all of human history and innovation and knowledge is at the finger tips of anyone who has access to the internet, yet 99% (probably, says me) of "users" use it purely for entertainment, attacking others, and otherwise becoming dumber and more ignorant. Poor western society - your time is almost up...

Agree with you, think where you live is a little more adapt socially and don't act like us down here. Not trying to stereotype but have always felt up north are people that are genuinely caring and helpful without just thinking of them selves. Just an opinion but think we could defiantly learn from our Northern neighbors especially in today's world.
