Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer

I'm about to purchase an Airaid CAI and I saw a throttle body spacer that's made by them as well. Not knowing what one does, I researched and it seems that they do indeed help with performance. I've never installed one though - are they worth it? $120-$160 for a piece of metal seems like alot, even if it is billet.

I know a few V6 Mustang guys and shops that tried TB spacers and dyno'ed them... all show ZERO gains... I would expect the same results on our cars...

The only time I've seen a spacer be of use was when going from a spread bore carb to a square bore, without changing the manifold. Carbs are completely different beasts then injection, especially an injection system likeours. The spacer isn't going to be mixing anything, and as such, all it's trying to do is increase the length of the intake, possibly increasing velocity some. Nothing nowhere near enough to notice IMHO.

Cool - After doing more searches I had a feeling but you guys have affirmed it That's a pricey piece of metal that won't do anything - and supposably an annoying whistle sound to boot!

A Better spend is CAI or a Diablo tuner (out for v8 and v6 is coming soon...) each of those is about $300. I would go for the tuner if you can only get one...

You are paying for the performance, not the part.

Not supposed to give more HP, its for better throttle response, that will get you off the line quicker giving you a better e/t with the same amount of power.

They seem to excel on truck set ups over car set ups. They help airflow velocity and won't give you and kind of power you're going to feel. I'd save that money for an exhaust later if you don't have one yet.

I've read elsewhere they actually lose HP with spacers and have never read on any forum about gains from these. But this is only what I've read.. you can't always believe the internets.

V8, V6, I4, never seen a spacer do anything but lose HP.. post better 1/8 1/4 times and I'll believe it.. until then they seem to be a waste of money just to slow your car down.
