2014 SS Front Bumper Help
Hey guys, my 2014 SS has had a front bumper issue for a while that I cant figure out. Basically the chrome strip always seems to sag down a little to the point where it is a obvious problem. The bumper was hit and repainted years ago, and after looking at it, its fairly obvious the mechanics who fixed it didn't know what they were doing as some of the clips are snapped. If I pull the chrome strip towards myself it looks right again, but the clips appear as if they're supposed to lock-in the opposite direction which never go far enough.
Basically my chrome stip sags and I'm trying to figure out how to fix it. I'll try to post pics tomorrow. I also honestly would like to replace the whole front bumper at some point. Anyone know where you can get a prepainted one for a good price? It's black if that matters. Last edited by Tritanium; 05-22-2019 at 07:00 PM. |

You could just swap on a non RS bumper and do away with the chrome strip altogether, or do what I did and install a z28 grill.

Can you take the front bumper off and try to fix it? It's not that hard to take it off and see what's wrong.

Yeah youre going to have to take it off. Cant even attempt to fix it on the car. Just order a new strip, order a new bumper or maybe you can glue it in if you dont care that much

I'm not against that as I'm plan on replacing the whole bumper sooner or later anyway. It'll really just depend on what I can get a deal on.

Yea, yea, yea... Old thread, but it helped me decide what I have to do to my 14 SS/RS that has a similar problem.
Thanks to all who contributed. Now I just need a thread to find out how to get the front fascia off. Best Regards, Elonkay Nika

It's a pretty easy job.

The only thing they don’t tell you about removing the bumper is that the top bolt is a bitch to get back in. You’ll need a good swivel and a combination of extensions to get to it. I took the fender liner out and that made it a bit easier.
