98-02 SS/WS6 vs. 05-09 GT?
So ive been considering this for a long time, i have been doing a lot of research online and such and wracking my brain trying to figure out which would best the other...my next purchase will most likely be one of these two vehicles, either a 98-02 WS6 Trans Am or SS Camaro (prefferably the T/A) or a 05-09 GT Mustang...i rode in a 2002 T/A not long ago and it was amazing, i love the feel of the car and how snug you fit in it, how sinister it is from the cockpit especially with those giant Ram Air buldges, its just a very awsome experience...then again the GT is pretty close to the same but a little more modern, has that classic muscle feel (no hatch thank god, why did that ever even catch on? LOL) but i think its appearance is kinda lacking next to the Trans Am....im sure both cars can be armed to the teeth as far as mods go, any suggestions?

Well as far as which is faster....I raced several back when I had my 02 WS6 and I won everytime.
It wasn't a huge blow out victory, but it was definitive. Power goes to the WS6 for sure Torque goes to the WS6 for sure Looks (subjective) Comfort - probably goes to the Mustang Not to mention the years you mentioned will have a huge price range As low as 6K for a 98 TA or 20K+ for a 09 GT. ________ Yamaha pacifica history Last edited by jrc1122; 03-11-2011 at 10:10 PM. |

WS6 all the way. Parts are cheap and easy to make a beast out of it..

I was kinda swaying more towards the WS6 as well, they're rarer cars, i think they look better, and ive never heard anything but good stuff from LS1s, even Ford guys give kudos to the LS1 haha...then again this would also have to be a daily driver, im fine with a rough ride i drive a 3rd gen Camaro so basically anything is an improvement there LOL, im just kinda wondering which will hold up better over time, which has better materials, which would be easier to crank HP out of if the time came, either car would be manual, the 6-speed is a plus for the WS6 as well

I had a 2000 TA, still miss that car even after all the other sports and muscle cars I've owned...may buy one down the line someday. Go with the WS6/Ram Air...those cars still turn heads and can scoot even stock.

Kay well i think ive made up my mind now =D hahaha
The overwhelming response for the Trans Am has pretty much set my mind to it, plus it has these factors going for it: *Better power-to-weight ratio *Looks completely sick with the Ram Air hood *LS1s are amazing engines that last forever and are easily modded *You wont see 6 or 7 WS6s everywhere you go, unlike the Mustang *Trans Ams and Pontiac themself are all gone so they'll only get rarer And last but not least *My dad has an 81' Turbo T/A ^_^ hahaha |

I agree that they'll only get harder to find in good condition. Look at what the prices have done on the 2nd gens, now the 3rd gens are getting scarce in decent shape...it won't be long before people start snapping up the low mileage top of the line ones to hold onto for Barrett Jackson 2020. I had a 77, got it for 20K in great shape, turned it over in less than a year for almost 30K, now they're in the 50K range in that trim ( SE, black and gold, 400/400).

If cheap speed is the priority the WS6 makes a great case with the LS1, and if you prefer the looks that obviously helps too. That said, if handling and comfort come into the mix in any significant way, and money isn't a deal breaker, the 2005 and newer Mustang GT is a huge improvement over any of the older Mustangs or f-bodies.
It all depends on your priorities. |

Unless your going to do this, then I would vote for the TA as well.
