Mouse was in the house...
I store my ride in my small barn/garage. Unfortunately Bounce dryer sheets just didn't cut it.
Anyway nasty smell from the vents when fan is on. Seems worse when the AC is on. Opened hood took off air intake shield and looked in the box-like chamber with the fan in view. No nest and no smell. Ran a can of Lysol through it (covered interior top off). Helped but it's coming back. Real bummer. Going to buy a Haynes manual but if you have advice on how to get to the problem spot please enlighten me. Also, tips for it not happening in the future would be great. Thanks, Mike |

Did you check the cabin filter?

The rectangular filter where I was looking under the hood? If so yes, otherwise no.

The cabin filer is access from removing the plastic cowl trim on the passenger side, near the wiper. If you removed that, then yes.

Not the air intake, but the cabin air filter. Here's a video on how to replace it.
I have found that dealers and auto parts stores don't stock these. I ordered mine from Summit Racing. |

I inspected the cabin filter. I found it easily- it took 5 minutes to get to it. I pulled it out and stuck my nose right to it and sniffed. No bad smell at all. It's not the cabin filter.
Smells like mice to me. I know mice were in the car over the winter they chewed the napkins in the glove compartment(I know stupid to leave it closed with napkins in it). No wiring luckily. Maybe it's not mice? I can try the vinegar solution but I sprayed an entire can of Lysol through the outside air intake and it came back. I figured someone might have had a similar situation and knew where mice possibly nested and got to it somehow. |

Pet odor neutralizer might work. Got rid of cigarette smoke smell in another vehicle that was purchased used.
