First car. First love. First heartbreak.

Just wanted to know how it was selling your first car. Right now im in the middle of selling my 1985 el camino that is my first car and I have been driving for 4 years.
I rebulit it with my dad and I love this car. Getting the attention from people, known in high school as the guy with the cool "truck car", getting to college and talking to other car heads, and just enjoying the weekend cruises along the beach or open highways. I love this car and I used to make fun of people who were so into there cars but i know what they mean. But times are tuff and i must sell this car for money so i can pay for school and its tearing me apart thinking of another man driving my car.
So my question is, how did you feel about selling your first car that you loved?

I still got my first car and probably will never sell it. It's a 1993 Ford Escort. Got a fully built 1.8 with a big turbo running 28lbs of boost and an MR2 transmission with some goodies inside. Solid 11 second car. I even keep the outside looking like crap for that POS, crappy car, sleeper affect. I LOVE this car more than anything I have ever owned.

I feel your pain on selling a car tho. I felt miserable selling my first Mustang, especially when I saw it riding around one day. Just remember you can always get another car and your schooling will make up for the loss. Good luck with the sale.

I know exactly what you mean. It was really hard for me to let go of my first car as well, and it was just a plain-jane 1991 buick century.

Nothing special about it, other than it was mine.

my first car was a 71 chevelle malibu 350 was green later painted black metalic, I LOVED that car. I had it for 4 years and it was the best car I have owned except for this Camaro I have now. I had to sell it because I got married and we bought a house that needed a lot of work so I sold it for 4500.00 in 1989. My husband sold his boat too so it would be fair, we both gave up something we loved. I still miss the car!

Heres the thing... Didn't "love" my first car (89 Chevy Cavalier), so selling it I basically said "PEACE!"

However my 4th car I did love, 1987 Buick Grand National, and its the first car I ever did Love. Unfortunately she was murdered... I didn't get to chance to feel that selling heartbreak, 1 month and 24 days after I bought her she was stolen and destroyed.

I refuse to love another ever again...

Good for you, wish I hadn't made that mistake. I won't make it twice.

It was pretty tough, but I bought a better version of that same car with the cash, so that softened the blow...

I loved my first car, but I didn't sell her, she died of violence.

Alas, poor Camry. So many fun memories...

Selling any car you love whether it was your first, last or current is always tough. First love was totaled in an accident('85 S-10 blazer). The second was sold because of a wife ('78 K5 Blazer). And the third was sold because of another wife ('99 Vette). God I miss those vehicles!!!

My first car was a '67 Camaro. Red with black rally stripes. Original engine (327 V8) and transmission (Powerglide). I bought it when I was 18. I added a spoiler that I purchased direct from Chevrolet. Dad and I installed it. Installed a couple stereos, speakers and amps over the years. Had a pair of 10" JBL subs in the trunk that pushed so much air it broke the seal around the back window. It had so much bass the speedometer needle would bounce to the beat of the music when I was sitting at a stop light. Yeah, I was one of those kids.

I had that car for seven years to the day. Even now I regret ever selling it. That was 18 years ago.

The first car that I loved was a 92 GTA 5.7 and it needed some work so I sold it. I had a couple 4th gen T/A's and Camaro's after that but they never filled the void. I regretted selling it and wished I had just parked in the garage till I had money. I had the bad feeling and the void till I got my 2010. Now I love this car more than any other one and will never get rid of it.

My new Camaro replaces my 1969 Camaro that I bought in high school (1973) and put 40,000 miles on it in a year. Red, 327, 4 speed and it was a blast to drive just like my new one is. Needed money and a van for school so I sold it to the first kid that really wanted it.
