Anyone running an oil cooler on their 1LE?

I am getting ready for a couple events in the next couple months. I was doing some trial runs around town. Noticed my oil temp getting up to 227. Have not really noticed that before but i see now that it gets up there after a bit of getting on it. If im hitting those temps around town i imagine on the course its gonna get a little higher than that.

Has anyone added an oil cooler for doing their auto-x or road course events?
Any certain company that stands out more than others?

Thanks for any advice

I don't run one. but I have a few friends who run the Mishimoto set up for our cars. And, all of them have praised it.

If you're going by the gauge in the DIC, that's not an actual temp reading. It's calculated by the ECU.

I will probably add one over this winter but I was down in Vegas at their road course and it got to about 270. The DIC says so anyways, after being that high I got a little worried but read it was ok and that it was actually calculated

I installed the Mishimoto oil cooler. I didn't measure before/after, I did it for peace of mind, I'm a track day guy.

Ran great no issues with excessive temps. Swapping engines now, will put it to the test for sure soon.

Thanks guys! Ill look into the oil cooler. I have a track day in palm beach and the temps here in FL have been super hot. I am not too happy with the temps getting high as they are so for peace of mind i think ill do it.

Would also like to know of anyone else that has installed it and noticed a decent drop on lower temp kept at rate.
Appreciate it guys thanks again

I built mine through Improved Racing about 100 bucks cheaper than the Mishimoto Kit.

I have the Mishimoto, I like it fine. The only issues I had are the oil filter sits lower than the frame rail now and one of the banjo bolts loosened up and had to be retightened.

Is that standard on their kit to sit that low? I will be lowering the car for my October event, wouldn't want to risk whacking the filter off by chance.

It looks like the kit uses a sandwich adaptor which lowers the filter by the thickness of the adaptor.

Ah ok i see. So if anything i could add a relocate kit and just move it back up.
Which i haven't heard that it does sit too low and i cant imagine ill be the only lowered 1le with the kit on.

Thanks again guys!

Remove the oil cooler adapter and use the thermostatic block from Improved Racing, so there's no worry about lowering you filter.

I have the Mishimoto kit and have not had an issue while road racing. I do have a belly pan and so far, just fine. I will say the cooler may be too small if you race a lot in hot weather or, have stacked coolers (like I do). I’m upgrading the cooler core with an Earls 42 row extra wide cooler.

Another option is a remote filter...

Thanks ! I’ll do most of my events in hotter weather so looks like I’ll have to upgrade the cooler too.

Appreciate the help!
