Rear End Popping Noise
Fairly new to these cars, I have a 2010 SS 6spd that makes a quick pop as soon as I let of the clutch. It seems that it only does it when the car is not under load like when parked or waiting at a stoplight. As soon as I let of the clutch a little I can hear a quick pop from the rear end. It does it in reverse also when I go to back out of the driveway. I've put new (proper) Redline fluid in the trans and rear end since I purchased the car. I will also note it made the noise with the OEM fluid in it also! But It does shift Waaay smoother now. Could this be a worn bushing of some sort in the rear? Is it something I should be worried about? Just wanted to get any heads up on what to maybe look for when I go to put the car on the jacks tommorow and take a look myself. Thanks!

Not under load, could it be excessive back lash in the ring and pinion? You are doing the right thing, check all fasteners and visually look for anything that is worn or bent. Does it make the noise if you let out the clutch while in neutral?

My mistake on my wording! I meant to say when It is not under load and then as soon as it goes under load! Like at a stoplight soon as it turns green and I let off the clutch I can hear a quick pop as soon as I start moving! And no noise when In neutral! Only when I start moving from a stop is the only time I can hear it!

give THIS thread a look- it might be a simple fix for ya. In the first post, there's a link to another thread where the guy videos the sound it's making
I had the same issue as mentioned in there, and had it repaired while I was in the shop for some other work being done. It tended to only make the noise when there was some kind of weight transfer. It def had me worried about the diff, but turned out to be a $5 part or so lol |

Hazy Thank You! Will look into, Hell for $5 I might just take an evening and give it a shot! Why Not? Would give me some time to dig around while I am in there and visually inspect everything for the hell of it. TBH The sound in the video might be It! I have only heard it from inside the car, I will have someone hop in to replicate it for me while I listen next to the car.
