Weird Noise In the Rear On a 2SS

I have about 500 miles on it now.
ever since the weather got cold, when i start it up, and wait for it to warm up, there is a weird kind of ticking(thumping) noise coming from the rear. I guess it is the fuel pump?
Also when I was backing up and hit the brakes, i heard a loud thump, i thought i ran over something. but i think it sounded like a brake.
when i got home and ws backing up, i heard it again and the pedal felt weird, and i could hear a sound coming from the the pedal area. it sounded like brake fluid rushing through a line.
i checked the brake fluid. and it was full
anyone else have this problem?

I believe the tapping sound is from the fuel pump. Kinda creepy huh? But did you hear the thumping sound when you pressed in the clutch? Or do you drive an automatic?

I had the same thing on my car and they replaced something, don't think it was the fuel pump. Something with the suspension. I'd bring it in and have them take care of it for you.

I have a 2SS automatic, and when I drive the car cold in the am I often hear a brief tapping noise, from teh rear end, lasting about 10 seconds. This occurs about 3 minutes after a cold start. It does it only for that brief period of time...what the heck could that be?

Edit: I just found my answer on another thread!!!!

Mine occasionally does the tap. I thought someone was in my trunk tapping with their fingernails the first time I heard it. Mine is always 5 taps.

The loud brake clunk when you first start to move seems to be the pads adhering to the rotors after you drive in the wet/rain and park. I think a light film of rust forms overnight that breaks loose when you first move it. Some others posted that they experienced the same after driving in the rain. I don't think it's a problem .

Normal in cold weather. Something to do with fuel management around the fuel pump. The GTO's usually had 5 taps. When warm weather comes you won't hear it.

actually many of the clicks and thumps your hearing are solenoids and switches running self tests on start-up and run-time, everything from the evap system to the abs/stability control systems, its a normal thing although i must admit it a little louder on our camaros than other gm vehicles

Agree with the normal until you said the breaking noise while backing up. I'd take it in for a look see.

I've noticed this as well, does it once when i first start moving forward from being parked(manual trans in neutral / parking brake on). I don't know how it sounds outside the car but inside is noticeable. I could be something to do with the parking brake. I don't think it does it when backing out of the garage I have an LS and think the LT's do it as well.

I have a 2SS. M6 i've nefer noticed any noise when backing up. If I did, I would take it in for a look see. IU do not think any "strange noises" are normal. Get it looked at now may be something small, wait could be not so small or easy to fix.

Funny, I never noticed the tapping until yesterday. It did sound like fingernails tapping on the trunk!

I hear the tapping (2SS - A6) at cold start-it's normal however when backing up immediately after cold start I hear a slight moan/rubbing noise - I suspect the rear end needs fluid change - had a similar noise with my TBSS - dealer noted this happens on Corvettes as well- after they changed the fluid put in at the factory the noise went away...I'll get mine done at first oil change.
