BE CAREFUL OUT THERE THIS WINTER IN YOUR SS.
Thought I would post this warning for Northern SS Camaro owners.
I took my SS out today. I knew the temperature was in the mid 20's but the roads were dry and there was bright sunshine. I figured I would be OK. Going down the road the dashboard temperature reading was 28 degrees. On three occasions my rear wheels broke loose with very very slight acceleration. I brought my Camaro right back to my garage for safe keeping. I bet hard stopping with these 20" Pirelli's is equally as bad- I've been out in 35-45 degree weather with no problems before, but if the temperature is below 40 in the future my SS will stay in the garage.

Another great reason to buy a winter beater and save the degredation of your investment to the summer months!

I wonder is this problem is only with the SS's. I have a 1LT and, although the ride isn't as smooth, so far I've had no problems with traction in very low temps. If that's the case I can add it to the list of things that make me glad I got the v-6.

It's my daily driver and with winter tires (18" on SS) it's easy ( if you can keep away from the loud pedal
![]() I've been driving my rear drive cars all the time in the winter and it's not bad. But you HAVE to get winter tires. you wont believe the difference.

never gets below 50 in south florida but i never take my camaro out on days it rains or during the week. my car is 7 months old and i have 1200 miles on it so i only take it out when the weather is just right otherwise it stays parked in the garage under a cover.

I got my car last June and I couldn't drive it enough. It was (and still is) an amazing time to own a new Camaro. |

There's a few threads going around about winter driving. The NUMBER 1 essential is WINTER TIRES, without a doubt. I hear the car 'transforms' into a BEAST, and handles great after that.

I was driving it last night and it was about 23 or so out. Gave it a bit of gas and broke free very easily. The perreli's definitely don't like it below 30.

Yep the Pzeros suck but my chassis is so set up that I like the way the break loose because the car is so predictable now. Never tried this stock and I would only imagine because the rear of the car has a mind of its own so it can get scary.
