Cat Delete Question

So yesterday I got my Stainless Works catback installed. I even did the muffler delete option. I figured it would be really loud but to my surprise it wasn't much louder than stock. I mean it deff sounds better but I just figured it would be much louder. I'm going to be looking into cat deletes soon but I was wondering do the cats quiet it down a lot? I really wanted to stick with stock headers but to get the sound I want I may have to go that route. I know long tubes will make it a lot louder.

Yes, the factory cats really do quiet things down and they also rob power. They are the most restrictive point of the exhaust system. If you don't want to jump into long tubes I would at least recommend a set of high flow cats. We carry a few options but highly recommend the Solo high flow cats.

I didn't want to go the tune route yet, so I did the Solo cats and it made a really big difference. When I put my foot in it the sound is really awesome. For sure go with Solo cats, not cheep but well worth it.

With the Solo cats, is a tune necessary? My exhaust system is all stock and would like to keep it that way but, wouldn’t mind a little more growl to it.

No tune needed with the Solo cats.

I would think if no tune is necessary, then no performance gain was realized. My logic I suppose.

It's right at the cusp you can say. The main thing is you aren't moving the sensors down stream any like long tubes. They do improve flow a lot.
