Thumbs up Camaro ideas to pass the time...

Just returned from London (England, not Ontario.... I know some of you were going to ask) - which appears to the place of no Camaros. Even the posh dealer on Park Lane which has Cadillacs and Hummers in the window next to Bentleys, Aston Martins and Lambos didn't have any. (There is a right-hand drive version produced isn't there?) I asked if they had any brochure (nice addition to the collection) but they had none.

Anyway... back to my point. While I was over there walking around I came up with a few ideas Camaro related. I'll start separate threads if interest shows.

- GTA Camaro friends Holiday GTG / poker night: This one's meant to be local. We have said we'll still have tom casual GTGs over the winter. I was thinking of hosting a holiday social or even poker night sometime between Christmas and New Years. No poker pros please . I have all the supplies and would love to host (I'm west-edge Mississauga). Interested?

- Camaro Summer Calendar: This past year was a ton of fun. Meets, shows, GTG's etc. Seemed non-stop at times but always left my hungry for more. Call me type-A or organization-freak but I was thinking that a local calendar would be good to put all the big events (Camaro Nationals, St. Cath's weekend, 2010 Buyer & Builder event) and all the local weekly events on it (Maple Cruisers etc). If everyone can see the events they can plan in advance to attend = more attendance. Of course this would have to be region specific. GTA/Ontario is big so maybe a good place to start - others to follow?

- Track Time!!!: OK - there was lots of talk about this. I think some here even said they took their Camaro's to Mosport. But the larger populous that talked about getting a group together to do this never got the idea off the ground. I really (really) want to do this. Never done it before and I know the big track at Mosport is challenging. So I'm thinking that I'd like to have a group of 10-15 of us coordinate a day with one of the driving schools at Mosport on the Driver-Development-Track (DDT). Someone here posted a link to one such company - I checked it out - looked good. Safe, non-competitive, controlled passing, lots of track time, go fast LEGALLY!!! Let's do it. Let's start organizing it in January. March will already be too late! Interest please!

- Summer driving trip: This past year there were a few times where Hylton, Rick, Rick, Gary and many others (too many to list) came in from out of town to attend an event. Being local to these larger events I (and others) never got to experience the long-distance Camaro road-trip joy. I was contemplating a multi-day tour this summer. Maybe 5-8 days. Maybe to the east coast? PEI? Always wanted to drive Manitoulin Island & across the top of Superior. Anyone interested?

This sounds great! You know ill be there as long as i am free. Im not good at Poker but ill give it a shot. I can always get my brother to come as me and wipe everyones funds out hmmm do i smell exhaust lol
Anyways i want to hit the track, i dont care if my car is just a v6, i want in
The calender is a great idea and would be really helpful, that way i can plan my events around my car events
The long drive sounds great, but what about Camaro5 Fest? Any interest there?
Im surprised no one has commented yet on the thread.
Anyways 2010 will be a big year and i cant wait to get started

I finally got my wife to agree to go to the Camaro Fest in Georgia...so far it should be a go for me and Jos (ls1_98) from Montreal also wants in on this trip..so far we're 2...maybe more will come and join us.. This would be a ONE TIME trip to Georgia..because it is going to be a BIG SHOW....I will not be doing this every year..I will be staying Locally after that.
I think we will be the first Canadians to go...I didn't see any other CDN names on the list(273 so far)

Also
The calender is a great idea like you said.

Hey all - Just so everyone knows, I'm working on the "GTA Camaro Calendar" to help share event info and allow people to plan big events in advance. My home PC had finally been overcome with age and other nasty things that 4+ years of web surfing results in so I decided it was time for a rebuild - which has slowed down the calendar. But it will be coming soon and will include links to click on to get more event info (where available).

For now I'll make mention of one big event. The Camaro Nationals put on by the Ontario Camaro Club in St. Catharines run this year June 12 & 13. I made my reservation at the host hotel 4-points Sheritan and they said they didn't have a lot of rooms left. Now I suspect that she was referring to the block they hold, but I'm sure they have a bunch otherwise. But anyway, anyone interested in attending for the whole weekend may consider making your reservation now.

Cheers

I will be organizing a track day at mosport as soon as Apex sends me their 2010 schedule, which should be soon.
It will be a driver development/training course with an instructor in the car with you. You will be very suprised at how much you will learn about driving.
I'll post something when I get the dates.
Some of the corvette guys might be interested as well.

yes Yes YES!!! That's what I'm talkin' about! I really want to do this this year - but I'd prefer to not be the organizer. It would be great if we can get enough guys commited (that's right guys, commited!! money down) to get a all-camaro day. Apex or one of those companies might be willing to do a special day just for us if we can commit to the numbers. You should call them to enquire.

That's the idea - But you won't need to worry about anything prior to July. B/C that's how long it will take for all that snow you guys have to melt
