Z28 carfax

Hi All,

I've been on the hunt for a low mileage Z28. This car looks good but I cannot access the free Carfax from outside the US as the website automatically diverts to the EU version and asks for payment. I asked the dealer for a PDF version of it, but I was just sent the link to the Carfax website again.

Anyway, would anybody from the US be able to open it up and send it to me as a PDF?

The car is at Hurst Autoplex Mitsubishi and VIN 2G1FZ1EEXF9701016.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Chigga, that car seems perfect in almost every respect. They’ve been a pain to deal with so far and I just can’t imagine what the process would be like when exporting it. By the way Jon and Chigga, what are your thoughts on the price? There are not many on the market that are 1 owner, low mileage, clean carfax, in red or white. Low mileage cars just don’t seem to be serviced very often.

'Asking' price doesnt seem too bad. I got mine in April 2018 with 3,100 miles for $44k with cracked/dry rotted original Trofeos. So immediately had to put $1,500 of Michelin PS4 tires into the car. I'd say the pricing of these cars are stagnant since, if not increased slightly.

And miles doesn't equal better condition. My car was heavily swirled from original owner. I just took care of that with an $1,800 paint correction and ceramic coating of paint, wheels, calipers, glass. Also have Xpel on the car's heavy impact areas... front end, rockers, qtrs, etc. So if anything, the car is in better condition now at 11,000 mi. v 3,100 when I got it.

Considering you're in the UK and the money you're about to spend... don't mess around with dealers that are troublesome from the beginning. Initial communication should be the honeymoon-phase of the discussion of purchase. Sorry to hear of this.

I'd ask all seller to take good pics of the front bumper, front splitter , each wheel, qtr panels infront of the rear wheels, etc... these areas are easily damages from stones, impacts, etc. Any and all imperfections need to be made clear. Even mine at 3,100 mi had stone chips in the qtr panels and swirls in the wheels but front end was/is still perfect.

Another, more broad resource to search cars. More white/red options

Your advice is great. My aim is to find a 'good bones' car, I shall then budget to sort the heads, install paint protection film and fit new tyres. I want something that is tidy on the underside hence why I think a lower mileage, garage queen maybe better suited.

You're right about the dealer, it hasn't got off to a great start. In contrast, I was in Chicago a few weeks ago and popped into Chicago Motor Cars, they had a just sold a red Z28 before I got there, but they had the 32,000 mile black one. I told them I wanted something flawless (or as close to) and knowing full well I wouldn't pursue the black car, I was taken for a drive (and offered the chance to drive it - I said no). The salesman offered to look for another car and I've just had a e-mail from them asking how the search was going. I was expecting the dealer of the white car to be a bit more helpful.

Thanks for the link to Autotempest - I'll keep a look out on that too.
Your car looks stunning by the way!

Sounds like a solid plan. I picked mine up from a trusted forum member on here with only 900 miles on the clock. Already upgraded to 580rwhp. I exclusively looked for cars in the NY, Florida/Miami and Houston areas because I knew it would be much easier to arrange export/shipping in those areas. The seller helped me out with delivery of the car to Miami docks.

If you are talking about sorting the heads, I assume you plan to complete that work in the US before the car gets over here? I would definitely recommend that and getting the PPF film done in the US as well as there aren't many PPF places that have the templates over here.

Tyres I would fit when you get the car to the UK though.

just my 2p Good luck with the search
