Did an entire exhaust delete, catback
Reposting this from the exhaust forum, with pics
Cut off the exhaust from the O2 sensor to make it stupid loud, but still in legal limits for my state. But I guess I should get it tuned yeah? Engine light is on. Also the keyfob doesn't start the car. There's a click of the ignition, but nothing, needs manual start. Any thoughts? |

Engine light is on because the o2 sensor is exposed to outside air. It's probably reading lean condition.
Remote start will not function if you have a CEL, which you do. There's a good chance you're going to get carbon monoxide inside the car if the exhaust is dumping out right there. |

that was a high dollar loud enough exhaust you just cutoff
![]() ![]() ![]() why not just take off the caps by the mufflers??? the hot exhaust is going to cook the tranny fluid. to each his own.......a guy at work has a charger 5.7 he did a "muffler delete" i think it sounds like a car the muffler fell off of LOL. |

You could have unbolted the first set of clamps instead of instead of cutting where you did.

I didn't think about that one, took it to a muffler shop and they cut it off where I asked, should have thought about it more. Now I'll just have to weld something on it. |

Wow. I hope you didn't just give that old exhaust to the shop. That is not a crap exhaust. That is a fully stainless steel cat back Borla system with X pipe and J-pipes. You could have simply pulled the mufflers off at the rear and either replaced them with straight pipes AFTER the J Pipes and got the loudness you want but with a rear exit and no drone. The J Pipes are to eliminate the cabin drone that you are going to surely get now. Assuming you are not already tuned, that thing is going to sound like a farting monster when AFM/DOD engages.
Like said above, if you have a check engine light on you cannot remote start the car. You will need to get those rear O2 sensors turned off in a tune. But, if you like it and can tolerate that drone and are happy with it...Your car your choice.

Everyone has their own dream for their car. I'm sure I've done a few things over the years that made people scratch their heads but hey, that's life.

Cut the secondary cats off, weld in some straight pipe where they were, then undo the clamps. That should fix the CEL. You will need to support the downpipe as it has flexpipe at the top.
Do not throw away that cat back! Disclaimer: I never ran with the open downpipe’s but with NPP hooked up I could tell a noticeable difference in sound with a secondary cat delete. Pic of my modified cats before I did longtubes
