PRI Update on Camaro Gears
The people at Motive Gear continue to say they don't have anything going on for the new Camaro.
Richmond DOES have metal - gears are being cut and heat treated NOW! Jegs and Summit will handle the gears when available at the end of December. They have part numbers assigned for V8 3.73 and 4.10 gears, also V6 3.55 gears. Another company, Rockland Standard Gear (800-227-1523), have a 3.36 1st gear set for the T-6060 trans. They also have an upgraded tailshaft and a tailshaft bearing conversion for $2200. They said that Motive Gear offered rear gear sets to them but the price was $500 a set at dealer prices with an order of 500 sets.

Ah... no 3.73 love for the V6? I mean, 3.55s are better than stock but...

Motive is just throwing sales away. Haven't 50,000 Camaros been sold already? Why would they NOT make Camaro gears? Guess I'll just go with Richmond.

Yeah LPE has gears.
They will also have a full rearend replacement in just a couple of weeks. Unfortunately they are WAY overpriced right now. I am going to keep my eyes open and see fi I can find some good deals. |

I'd say gear whine is improper installation. These things are computer cut with tolerances that are probably the same as oem, but there might be slight variances that require shims and a proper installer should check that... we shall see!

I had a set of Motive 3.73 gears that whined like a beat dog. They were just crappy made. the install was good by a WELL recommended mech. Got a set of Ford racing(had a mustang at the time) and never had the first bit of noise or problem. Im very wary of Motive brand from my experience. I hope something comes soon because it made a world of difference. I think they would put this bad boy in a whole new class

We've installed alot of gears in GM vehicles.Every set of Richmonds made noise. The Motives were dead silent.Setup is key and probly 90% of the shops out there do not set them up right.

If Richmond does it, I will have a very hard time using them. Years ago they were good, but now more often than not, noise is the end result. I had good luck with motive except for their C5 corvette gears the first couple years, they would set up good, but after a couple thousand miles they whined bad. That has been resolved by Motive. Hopefully Yukon gear will do something. Those have been very good gears every time that we have used them. Back in the 4th gen days, we just ordered 3.73 or 4.10 gm for s10's.

The Richmond Gears for the 2010 camaro are dead quiet even if they are installed .005 deep or shallow. Made right here in the USA. Liberty, SC to be exact.
Richmond Gear's facebook page says the gears are released for sale. 3.73 and 4.10 for the V8. |
