Header Install

Hopefully this will make someone chuckle.... So I just picked up a 2013 Hot Wheels Edition and decided that I wanted to install headers and a CAI. Because I'm slightly OCD I of course watched numerous videos, read install related threads and carefully prepared, especially since this is my only car and I didn't want to get stuck at home needing some part or supply and not having wheels to go get it. Mind you I'm not a newbie I had a 93 Z28 and pretty much did every modification known to man which eventually resulted in a car that was track only.

So on to the install. I get up early last Saturday and begin the install. It goes fairly smooth requiring the usual contortions, which is not as easy as it used to be. Let's just say that I'm not 21 anymore.. not even close. In any case I finish the install and I'm ready for the big event! Time to fire it up and see if my efforts have been successful. I'm pretty proud of myself at this point thinking that my careful planning has been superb. I had accomplished my install without the usual run to the parts house for tools or supplies. I am a mechanical wizard and really should be wrenching for a NASCAR team.

It is at this point that I realize that I need to re-connect the battery. You know the one in the trunk which is of course locked tight and won't open without, well a battery. My head is bowed and I am humbled once again as I lower the back seat and climb in to the trunk.

Every install I read mentions disconnecting the battery. I don't recall any mentioning that you might want to leave the trunk open, LOL. The good news is that the car is running great and I'm acting 17 again driving around terrorizing my un-suspecting neighbors. I have to thank this forum as it's already been helpful. Great tips can be found here, you know like how to get into the trunk when you've disconnected the battery.

Congrats on the new mod! BTW, don't close the trunk lid so that it latches otherwise you'll have to climb through the backseat to release the trunk.

NOT so fast , all ya needed to do was hook a set of jumper cables to the positive post and ground under the hood and pop the trunk with the fob or button on the door.

But if there is no shame how can you teach yourself not to do it again?

I read that too and thought what a great idea. The only problem, I had but one battery and it was in the trunk.

The verts have a key lock behind the back seat to open the trunks.
