Ignition key issue

I have a 2015 LS Camaro and the ignition key won’t come out. Took it in. To change oil. And had the Chevy dealer service department look at at it. They told me it was not the ignition switch but on the shift quadrant where your lever is, inside is a sensor that is defective. This sensor makes. sure the transmission is in neutral so the key can come out. Anybody have this problem. They want a 100 to 150 bucks to fix it since I am cheap and rather spend my money on accessories and add Ons for my Camaro, I will attempt to fix it myself. Now my question is , anybody on this forum have the same problem? And if you did what did You do ? I need a little insight here or a utube video. Thanks

Had exactly same problem on my '15 LS. Google: 2015 Camaro ignition switch key stuck. There is a 6:54 video from Mr Musclecar describing how to disconnect the lead that sends signal from shifter position to the ignition switch. Sort of an electric version of back drive linkage. I did this 3 years ago, no problems associated. Just make sure that when you're driving nobody reaches over, turns off ignition and pulls key thereby locking your steering wheel while in motion.

Yea it has nothing to do with the key itself. In the above post looks like it will work, it is a bypass of this safety.

There can be different problems with keys and the ignition. You likely had a problem with your ignition cylinder if they changed out your keys. The OP does not have a problem with the cylinder, the problem is with the shift interlock solenoid mechanism for him. nothing to do with the key, or cylinder itself.

Disconnecting the solenoid sounds like a great idea.
When my battery died the key was stuck in the on position too.
Could have been bad had it been in a less than stellar location to break down without the ability to lock up the car.

Unplug it for sure, it will just fail again if you replace the shifter.
