is 87 still good to use in a 2014 ss or would 89 be better?

Premium only if you want it to run on the performance table in the ecm. Run all the lower octane fuel out of it and Put premium back in it, then do the fuse pull and you’ll see what I mean.

Or 91 in those places that do not have 93.

Here's how to get your car back up to par after using low octane fuel (SS trims).

Empty out the tank to E as close as you can. Refill about half a tank with Higher Octane (91 or 93). Let THAT run down as close to E as you can. Refill the tank with Higher Octane again. Park your car for the night and pull the 5 and 20 fuses from your under-hood fuse box and keep them off for at least 6hrs. Reinstall the fuses and stay off the low octane gas in the future.

Just fyi too... due to most fuel stations having one pump with multiple octanes, I'd recommend the 'fuse pull' at the very least after every other oil change.

As for what fuel I stick to, for the most part... I stick to Chevron w/ Techron... or Shell or Conoco 76...

And fyi only buy from top tier gas stations. Shell or Sunoco are the best in my area. Sam's Club gas is terrible for performance cars...

You need to keep them off overnight (min 6hrs). Also, couldn't hurt but I wouldn't do them after EVERY oil change... just something to keep in mind.

Dirty gas is out there even using top tier gas... and these uni-pumps using multiple octanes... we surely get a nice gulp of low octane fuel before the high octane fuel kicks through.

The car will feel lighter on its feet once you get this done.

Should we be concerned with the fuels alcohol content in regards to parts longevity? My ol' school carburetors hate the 10(or so)% ethanol of current fuel. ALSO is there any type of fuel filter installed on these vehicles? I have a '15 2LS and a Z/28. Trying to learn all I can about the high tech machinery.
