SS times...
I was digging into some info on the G8 GXP and was thinking about the possible times. The GXP also have the LS3 in it, but not sure what kind of intake, etc. It's rated at 402 HP. It boasts a 4.7 0-60 rating and 13.0 second flat quarter mile. It also weights about 100-200 pounds more than the camaro with something like 20 less HP. I'm thinking we just may see a 4.5-4.6 0-60 and 12.7-12.9 quarter time I find it hard to believe the camaro will run the same time as a pontiac? Thoughts?

I definitely see the Camaro SS running 12.8-13.0 @ about 109 mph bone stock.

Oh yeah, people will squeeze a few 12.6s and 12.7s I'm sure. My guess of 12.8-13.0 is what I expect the middle 75% of drivers to be capable of achieving....with poor/inexperienced drivers pulling 13.0-13.5s

Your observations were the exact reasons I guestimated the numbers I had in another thread - about mid to high-12s. Obvisously, the faster the better, and I'd love to have egg in my face for being too slow

C&D did Bullit mustang vs. challenger SRT-8. at 4189lbs with 425hp, the challenger did 60 in 4.8 and the 1/4 in 13.3. the bullit did, with 315hp weighing 3536lbs did 60 in 5.0 and the 1/4 in 13.6, so the ss shoud be faster than both.

I'm betting on 12.7-12.9. Expect a G8 to follow closely.

I think it is reasonable to assume the camaro will easily run 12.6 to 12.8. The reason I'm saying this is because the camaro will have a larger first and second gear then the G8GXP. It is shaving 200+ pounds off of the GXP and given the 2:73 rear end is capable of a higher top end. Aerodynamics will also play into this as the camaro has a .30 COD and the GXP has a COD of .33. Doesn't sound like a big difference but it is, 2-3 hundrenths at the strip is a BIG difference. One last point (you gearbangers aren't going to like this), a well built automatic will out run a manual most of the time. Don't hate it's true. Look at the Top Fuel and Nitro cars. No matter how fast or good you think you are you will never beat .8 milliseconds! From the factory you might have the advantage but wait until B&M and the rest get involved, the stick will be stuck. I going off a little now so I'll just say the camaro will be a great car to take from the dealership to the strip and beat all but the highest tuned Mustang arround.
