2010 Camaro 3.6 v6 issues no start

I dont know if this is the right thread and if not please direct me to proper place as this is my first post but I have nowhere else to turn to and I need help.

Here is what happened , I changed oil on my camaro and the oil filter housing was over tightened by whoever did it last and it broke on me. I got it fixed and replaced but when it broke , bits and pieces of metal were down in the housing , I fished out everything I could see and thought it was fine , drove to work next day and everything was great but the day after that on my way to work I was going about 85 passing a semi and the rpms spiked to about 6 or 7 thousand , I left off gas and they continued to climb so I pulled over to side of road , I got down to a stop and shut off car got out and looked and saw nothing wrong with engine so I attempted to start it again and it wouldent start.

I had it towed home that day and when I got off work that night I attempted to start it , it started and ran for about 5 seconds but sound extremely rough , now it wont even crank for me , when I turn the key it just clicks over and over and nothing happens. Is there anyone on here that might have an idea of what's wrong?

No codes?

Runaway RPMs doesn't match up with what a floating chunk of metal could have done. Engine damage from runaway RPMs and then no start sound possible. I'd get it to a trusted shop or a Chevy dealer to get it looked at.

Good luck.

Getting it to a shop is not an option currently and no I have no codes as I dont have a computer , i was hoping for some help on what someone here might think the problem be and what caused the rpms to do what they did

Need more info for some of the forum diagnosticians. How many miles on engine? Manual or auto trans? Mods done? Owned the car long? I really don't have any experience with what you're reporting but hopefully somebody else can offer some advice, especially with more details.

Sorry you got me stumped on that one. Climbing
RPMs even when you let off the throttle possible throttle sticking issue but usually the computer can tell when there is a problem and throws the car in limp mode. If it was stuck the car should have still shifted into the next gear but it sounds like it didn't. Was it still pulling when it was revved or did it feel like it went into neutral? If stuck at WOT that would not let the car restart as it goes into flood mode. Possible large vacuum leak. Sorry man this is a strange one.

105k miles on engine , automatic transmission, when I let off gas car felt like it was in netural and stopped climbing , i am thinking maybe a broken camshaft or something along them lines? Would taking engine apart be a good idea? Any thoughts on if engine even sounds repairable?

Also note , when I go to start it now , it will click repeatedly really fast and not do anything , i did try to start it day after and it started but sounded like clanking metal in engine, is there a way to check for crank and cam shafts , if there broke or not could this be the issue?

Sounds like transmission problems?

take out he plugs and try to turn the engine over by hand with the crank bolt if it won't turn you have major problems and will need to start teardown. drain oil see if there's metal take off the oil filter cut it open look for metal. If no metal and it won't turn then disconnect the torque converter and try to turn engine over again, if it will not turn over with trans disconnected the trans is locked up. RPMs revving and car not going anywhere sounds like transmission. as for clicking the battery is either too weak or the engine or trans is seized not allowing it to turn over.
