Fel-Pro valve cover gaskets...WTF? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

So I am almost done with my cam swap and noticed something strange. My valve cover gaskets, which are 6 months old and only have 1600 miles on them have grown/stretched and no longer fit. It is like they grew over an inch. There is quite literally too much gasket. No matter what I do I cannot get them to fit.

Anyone ever experience this? I hate to trash a fairly new set of gaskets, but this is just ridiculous, especially from a company as well known as Fel-Pro.

I will likely replace with OEM stuff.

had same prob....get sum new ones from Advance Auto for $20...

I just did, unfortunately I had to go with Fel-Pro again because I don't want that to hold up completion waiting for the AC Delcos. But I had $5 in Speed Perks and the 20% off coupon code. Came out to $12.77. I can handle that for that price.

I just don't understand why they stretched like that. Anyhow, thanks for the heads up man.

I had the same issue.

I couldn’t reuse them because they stretched so much.

I had the same issue "back in the day" and that is why I stopped using Felpro..

Been that way for years, always considers Felpro valve cover gaskets a one time use item just like condoms .

I honestly never knew that (The gaskets, not the condoms lol). I can totally understand a year or two, but I have put 1600 miles on this engine (First start was Last October) and they were totally unusable. That's lame. But overall it's not a huge deal since they are rather cheap.

OMG, so close to finishing my cam swap. Just need to install the fuel line, fill the radiator, reinstall my coil packs, plugs/wires and my Vararam. I had to quit for the night as my back is killing me and I don't like working in the dark on my car. Too easy to miss something stupid. Oh yeah, and install the startup tune Ryan from GPI sent. First start has my nervous as heck.

When i took my supercharger out the factory brick gasket was so oversized i couldn’t use it. It was 1” bigger all around. Had to order a new one.

Had to order a new one. __________________ 22% lower/ 2.5 upper/ 2” headers/ cat delete/ x-pipe/ 2 gallon x tank/ 100-3 pump/ fic 1300/ dsx aux kit/ 103mm throttle body/ big gulp 5” intake/ meth kit/ prometh lid injection/FI interchiller/ 160* stat/ ngk-7/ msd wires/ elite catch can/ tsp cam/ Che trunnions/ ported supercharger/ 1/2” lid spacer/ cnc,milled ported heads/ brick mod/BMR toe and trailing arms/ 781hp 748 tq SAE @17.3lb on a loaded dyno.
