2011 No Crank/No Start
2011 SS. Drove to the convenience store car was running normal.* Came out, started fine and as I drove to exit, car stalled out.* After a few attempts to try and restart, the car would crank and turn over, then die immediately.
Had it towed home.* Tried to start it a couple of times in the driveway and it cranked and turned over then immediately died.* Then the battery was basically dead. Next day, charged the battery, checked the codes and it was throwing a P069E (FPCM has detected a problem) and P1682 (ignition switch circuit 2).* Now, when I turn the key, everything comes on as expected, dashboard lights, gauges, etc.. But when I turn to start I get nothing, no crank... just nothing.* So, at this point, I assume it is the ignition switch.* Checked all fuses and all are good (visibly, not with multimeter.. yet). Replaced the ignition switch... still no crank.. nothing. Any Other ideas????? I'm going to meter test all wires/fuses next. |

I second the checking of the battery. It doesn't take squat for amps to run all the lights and correct volts doesn't always mean good battery. Once you apply a heavy load it will tank which is why battery load testers exist. Pretty much any auto parts store has a load tester, bring it in a see what happens.

Sorry.. meant to mention that I did swap with a good battery first thing and still nothing.
So.. the mystery continues. Meter tested all fuses, all are good. tested that the fuse block is getting power. Swapped Starter relay with similar A/C relay still nothing. Swapped Run/Crank relay with similar relay... nothing. Dropped starter and meter tested solenoid wire... No power to wire when ignition turned.. OK, so now we're getting somewhere... But where????? new ignition switch so it can't be that (unless some asswipe returned his bad one to the store). Not likely the relay, would be strange if both were blown at the same time. Maybe fuse block issue? maybe frayed wire from fuse block to solenoid? Dare I say it.. Maybe the ECM? Or, I am currently looking into bypassing the neutral safety switch (although I think it is in the tranny, so that may be a dead end); however, trying to start in neutral does not work so I don't think it is the neutral switch) |

You did not state if your a L99 automatic or manual..the automatics can do things when the neutral safety switch is off under the shifter BTW..... And our starter is stock a Mini starter so it struggles real bad if built with heat also BTW.. Just a couple thoughts the first one may apply...Good Luck!

not familiar with the safety switch on these cars but if it plugs into the wiring harness you could unplug the plug and bypass it with a piece of wire.at least you could find out if thats the problem.

Thanks for all your replies.
I broke down and had to tow it to the dealer. Ended up being a corroded wire. |

I know this is old, but would you know exactly which/what wire was corroded? My son has the exact same issue in his 2011 camaro.
