FIXED!!! PAC Stereo Kit Owners Question (Seat Warmers related)

Hello, all!

I am trying to trace down an issue with both seat warmers on my 13 ZL1 not coming on (no lights, nothing, both driver and passenger.)

I've confirmed 2ohms on the elements and the fuse is good.

I have the PAC kit in my car (installed by a PO). See below:

Anyone with seat warmers and this kit... can you think of any reason that the seat warmers wouldn't work with this kit? For example is it possible they weren't re-hooked up (if they had to be disconnected). Or any other incompatibility issues?

Just looking for any clues. Thanks!

Did you by chance forget to install the light tubes in the pac unit that goes behind the buttons? That may be why you have no lights?

I didn't install the kit. It was a PO that did.

I guess I could go sit in the car for 10 minutes and see if they do warm up even without the lights on. But do they have a memory and if they were on when you shut off the car come on again or do they automatically turn off when you shut off car?

They turn off with the car. You have to manually turn them on every time you start the car.

This is where the light tubes go, so if they left them out you will not get any lights.

I was going to test for 12v at the plug under the seat but first I thought I would check for ground and neither of the 2 showed ground that I could tell. Next time I go for a drive I'll just hit the button and see if they warm up.

i don't supposed there's an easy way of checking if the lights are in there without ripping the console and dash out.

What if my version is RPK5-GM4101? I didn't see anything in the install instructions about that. And if the factory knobs already had lights, I don't see why you would want to do this...

Very confusing and I can't confirm I have the 1 (older) model vs the 2.

The 4101 uses the factory knobs. The 4102 uses the new knobs. So if you purchased the 4101 then you will not have to install the light tubes as they are already in the existing assembly

Ok, hopefully last question.

In working with PAC he also said it's most likely the 4102 and the light tubes were not installed. He asked if there was a "click" when pressed. There is not.

So...

1. Anyone with the 4102 installed with light tubes can you verify if there is a physical click?

2. Anyone with stock warmers.. is there a click on those?

If I can figure out it's the 4102 for almost certain and the light tubes weren't installed (and as PAC seems to say, are required for functionality) it looks like I can just purchase the knobs and light tubes and get it right.

My darn OCD just doesn't like it when things don't work.

I also emailed my dealer again to see if he could find out from the PO if he installed the stereo and any details on the kit model use and if light bars were maybe left out on purpose, or accidentally.

I don't really want to rip the dash apart twice.

I have the 4102 and there is not really a click. It feels almost like it does from the factory. You can feel it when pressed but it’s not really noticeable

This happens to me, when installing my metro kit. The 2 dials we not seated 100%. Heat worked but my heated seats did not. Take them apart and make sure they are seated all the way down.

Seated how? Or will it be obvious if I take it apart?

The PAC tech support said I can't take the caps off to look for the bulbs as they will most likely break.

Kind of a pisser, but not a deal breaker. I have a note into the dealer to see if he can ask the PO questions about it that should help be figure it out. Darn OCD.. lol

if you look straight down on the dials it should be all even around them, if they are off just a 1/16" the contact pad can just be out of reach for the seat button.
