Exhaust???
Hey people, I'm a newbie here. First post. I have a 2011 SS. The exhaust is horribly quiet. So much so that you can't even tell it's running. When I bought it I had to pop the hood to make sure there was eight cylinders in there. is this normal? Is this what stock sounds like? Did somebody buy an aftermarket exhaust that makes it sound quieter? I mean, it's embarrassing...I don't want open headers but I want a rumble when it starts and I want to be able to hear it when I pull away.... Maybe even a little quicker performance.... Suggestions? Opinions?

It is quite when stock. You can achieve a slight rumble with an axle back exhaust.

I am new here also & have spent a ton of time looking around & thinking about mods. I have only had my 2013 2SS with 70k a few months & the first thing I might spend money on is replacing the stock oil pump. it might still be quiet but money well spent.

It’s the quiet storm. Plenty fast, just not obnoxious

Replacing the oil pump is the first thing you want to do with your car? Weird. :(
To the OP, are you manual or auto? For an auto car, if you put an X-pipe in place of the big resonator I bet you'll get some noise.

You have many options here. You may have to do a few other things to minimize unwanted drone from AFM activation if you have an automatic (L99) car. The manual cars come with an H pipe from the factory.
Prices are mainly affected by brand and quality of materials, but that is not set in stone. There are deals to be had. Muffler delete - $100 - 200 Axle Back - $150 - 600 Cat Back - $300 - 1600 (This will also replace your factory resonator/H-pipe with an X-pipe in most cases) There are also other routes you can go, such as catless downpipes, shorty or long tube headers. This is where many people (myself included) say to start off when making changes to your exhaust system, as it can have a drastic effect on the way your car sounds if you change mufflers before you do the headers, often times in an undesirable way (Car may be too loud or droney). The general rule to waste less money and have better overall results is to 'start at the front'. Any changes to the headers or cat deletes via downpipes will offer a greater increase in performance than any muffler change will give. There is a ton more info on this stuff available here and I am sure other members will offer their advice. Welcome to the site btw!

First off, welcome to the forums and congrats on your new to you ride!
Yeah, unfortunately the factory exhaust for a SS in 2010-2012 is embarrassing. '13+ you had the option for a better exhaust if you had a manual transmission. Personally I'm a fan of Solo Performance and their exhaust systems. Also, Stainless Works Retro Chambered catback is pretty nice too.

OP, here are Speed Engineering longtubes with an x-pipe with STOCK mufflers on my 2010 Camaro L99 (auto). I get compliments frequently on it.

J/Pipe Axle Back exhaust. It's all you need to do for that old school muscle car sound. One hour to install and no drone at any RPM.
