So what size 22" tires is everyone running ?

I see alot of people running 22's over the stock 20's...and have read here and elsewhere where changing has thrown a code. So just a few Newbie questions.

1) What size tires are you running on your 22" wheels
2) Any rubbing initially ?

Thanks

No codes, No rubbing

Having the right 22 makes all the difference though because weight in some companies will not be good.

We run 265/30/22 and 295/25/22

wow...just wondering about your handling and road feel is now with the extremely low profile tires with the 22 inch rims.

You should be able to light the tires up real easy....right?

On my car,

Pirelli PZero Nero
265/30-22 front
315/25-22 rear

These are the correct diameter for the 2010 Camaro. No codes if you keep the outer diameters similar to OEM.

Car rides perfect. With the H&R drop the car feels more sporty. Also, the wheels only weigh 28lbs front and 32lbs rear so they are very light.

They will not stick out at all, as long as your wheel offset is correct. Plenty of room under the '10 Camaro for a 315 tire.

Had 295/25/22 which are shorter & had them replaced by 285/30/22 Toyo Proxy 4 on the 22x9.5 wheels.

ok thanks... so would a 315 fit on a 22x10.5 - 5/120 pattern - 35 offset?

Now those 315's look nice and wide! I might go with the 265/35/22 and 315/30/22 just for a little more sidewall meat!

Tony,

Very good information. What’s your experience been with such a low sidewall height? I’ve been worried about potholes bending rims.
I would have like to consider a 21 inch wheel, but I don’t see anyone with a 305 or 315 in that diameter. Thoughts? Also, what’s your thoughts on 22 rear, but 21 front? I seem to recall the Camaro concept had different diameter front/rear
I plan to purchase a wheel tire combo this spring

I feel the same way about the 21's. I have searched and searched but all I see in 21's are 295's and 325's. That's why I might go with a slightly thicker sidewall for the 22's. It's not much of a difference in height but I might have to recalibrate the speedo, but that's ok.

21" is the bastard wheel size. Tire manufacturers offer a plethora of sizes in 20" and 22", but not the oddball 21". This was the same way with 19" wheels for a long time, with 17s and 18s getting all the tire selection.

The sidewall height on the 22" wheel and OEM tire diameter is equivalent to the sidewall height of a 19" wheel in a typical 26" tall tire. So, if you saw 19s on a 4th gen or a Corvette, the sidewalls would be the same as the Camaro rolling on 22s with its 28.6" tall tire. Here is a photo to help illustrate how tall the Camaro tires are. Pictured below are the OEM Camaro wheel, next to an 18" Z06 front wheel, next to a 17" Firehawk wheel.

Notice how tall the Camaro tire is? That means you can run a bigger diameter wheel and still have enough sidewall. Here is another funny photo, comparing an 18" wheel (with 26" tire) to the Camaro wheel. On the second photo, I photoshopped the 18" wheel into the Camaro tire, to illustrate how much sidewall there would be if an 18" wheel was using a Camaro tire height.
