What is this engine component?

Anyone know what is this? The metal part like a can.

I'm no expert on the v6 but it looks like it could be the filter drier for the A/C

it's the auxiliary vacuum pump for the brake booster

Vacuum pump for your brakes.


Not all of them have it either, I have seen some models without the booster pump.


My hard line was broken, and hidden under that rubber insulation, and I still had
brakes, so mine probably doesn't work. Since the line was replaced, I do not have
power brakes in initial cold hi-idle. Once the idle comes down, they work fine, and
from then on once warmed up.
