Stroker In High Boost
The title pretty much sums it up. Would like to hear opinions about whether or not a stroker engine in 20+ psi boost applications is a good idea or not?
I wanted to go the stroker route because it tends to bump the torque up considerably, at least that has been my observation. When and if I finally get my dream engine, it will be the iron block LSX variety so lets hear it from supercharged section. I truly value your opinions.

Ted you didnt answer my question. I really did want some discussion on this. I know a lot of guys here have 416 strokers but I would like to know how much boost they are running on them.
Does anyone here have a stroker making 20+ lbs of boost?

The Block is what matters above 15 psi boost.

I'm running LSX427, so far up to 25psi boost. Max target is expected to be 28psi. E66.
Yes, the torque is noticeable compared.

417 Stroker running up to 35 lbs of boost... 2000 RWHP at 27 lbs, at 8000 rpm... we shift the car at 9000 rpm, but she spins on the dyno... Twin Turbos... If a buddy doesn’t come through soon, I might be listing the whole shebang... The motor has been completely refreshed, new pistons, rings, bearings, heads etc... It is sitting in the shipping crate waiting to be reassembled... This is a half filled aluminum block...
I can’t drive the car anymore after my heart attack and subsequent strokes... This is not a for sale ad... Yet...

In an aftermarket block what are you considering a “stroker”? A crank that has a longer stroke than a gm crank?

Yes, crank stroke and/or rod length. I am not the builder! We were going to start with the 427 LSX bore of 4.125" and then go with a 4.125" stroke and a 6.125" rod (or 6" rod depending on the piston), which equated to somewhere around 441 cui but having trouble finding the parts.
One well known speed shop (I will keep it off the record) told us that a crank stroke over 4" and a rod stroke over 6" becomes detrimental at high boost (20+ psi) because there isn't much meat on the bottom of the piston and the wrist pin can become a failure point. I am just trying to get feedback from some of you experienced guys before we launch into the unknown on my nickel <grin>.

I hear you Ted. Was always thinking stroked aftermarket block. Leaning toward dropping the stroker idea and going with an LSX 427 short block built for boost by LME out of Houston. They are just down the road from me, my shop uses them a lot for builds, the blocks come professionally put together with good parts and a list of quality control checks that are impressive, plus there are a number of offered upgrade options to suit your taste.

That is one fine engine if you looking to just drop one in.

Is this something you would entertain, It is really a shame it just sits in my car getting dusty, no time and tracks are closed around here.
