PVD Chrome wheel soft, weak?
I bought ZL1 style wheels, with PVD Black Chrome. A lot of people sell these, made in China.
Tire shop put these on without any marks. 2-years later, couple tire repairs for nail, tire shop scratch wheels with their tire machine. It appears PVD Chrome is not durable, as compared to real Chrome or Oem Factory wheels. Then using name brand wheel cleaner, on certain areas of the wheel the Chrome turned Black, as if the Chrome paint came off. Other than expensive forged wheels, what kind of wheels are durable? Thanks, Eric |

OP,
PVD is a coating that is pretty durable. It does not lend itself to repair though. There's a wheel repair and PVD shop in Anaheim. I have a few rashes on my set of FR41's. All on the right side, funny thing that. I'm opting for repair over replacement. my 2¢
