Bad O2 Sensor
Well I got my scanner, and its telling me the CAT and the O2 sensor aren't emissons ready. I looked around online and apparently theres more than one on the car.
I also saw there were two types of connectors, a square end and a flat end, but I don't know which one I need. It said that the Heated O2 sensor was good so I assume that just means I need one of them. Any ideas on which one I need, and has anyone done this before? Many thanks, Jeff |

you have 4 02 sensors on the car. 2 in front of the catalytic converters that directly read the exhaust fuel ratio and 2 behind the catalytic converters that read whether the cats are working or not.
the front 2 are are the flat 4 pin style and the rear two are the square 4 pin style which sensor(s) is your scanner telling you is/are bad?

It says 'HO2' are good but 'O2' are bad, as well as the EGR valve but I have a feeling that has to due with the O2 sensors

they should all be heated o2s. IIRC '93 was the last year they put non-heated o2s in the camaro. but it might just be referring to the front and rear ones differently. what scanner are you using?

This one
http://www.amazon.com/Quicklynks-Dia...404659&sr=8-34 It comes up under emissions, the cars not throwing any codes. It runs, but it has NO power, it struggles to get up the hill in my driveway, and it says the cat is bad as well, so I'd assume thats where the majority of the power loss is |

interesting. whats the actual DTC that it is giving you? your cats might be clogged from the sound of things.

if you are struggling on power and the rear O2s are are flagging, I'd be more than willing to bet that you have a clogged cat.

well, if you are planning on replacing them anyway, then go ahead and swap them out for some better ones. but depending on how many miles are on the old sensors, and how clogged/corroded they could be by now, might as well swap them at the same time as the cats so you end up with all new stuff from the get-go.

Tru.Dat Plugged cats are notorious for the symptoms you're describing, Obviously without driving or seeing the car we can only guess, if there's no DTC's. I just recently had an 06 Ford Escape that had similar issues, but registered misfire codes on Bank 2 because of a plugged converter. Odds are, if your induction system and ignition system are checking out, look towards the exhaust for further issues.
BTW, I know I said to check induction and ignition, but don't forget your fuel system. Make sure the basics are within spec before replacing the exhaust. |

Well I called around and got quotes from 200-800... I've got a friend down in Connecticut calling around there too. I need to replace the exhaust flanges as well, and Midas said that would be another 200 bucks, hows that sound to you guys?

sounds like you need to get a sawzall, some pb blaster, and some elbow grease.

Well normaly I would try and do it myself, reason I'm not this time, way too cold out side, as well as the snow, and I have no garage to work in, nor a welder or sawzall. So having someone else do it seems to be the most realistic option :(
