Oil pump

Has anyone ever messed with their pickup tube, causing it to become over extended? When trying to install my new melling HP pump, i have the pickup tube installed and seated, braced as well, but the assembly is about 1/2 inch away from the face of the block. It does not want to wiggle into place and only slightly moves under a ton of force, does anyone have any experience with this, i have to dyno this friday!!

I had trouble getting my over the crank due to the pickup being in the way but once I got it on it went right into the pickup tube. I disassembled the pump to get it all to fit then aligned it all up. This video was helpful.

Also if you have time order you up one of these. The single bolt design on the pickup is garbage. This makes sure it does not come loose and that it is installed properly.

I have the improved racing brace and it looks like it works well. But my pump is already on the crank, it really just needs to move back a little to get to the block. I have pics, i am just trying to figure out if i need to drop the pan or is there another way to deal with it

That's really odd is the pan loosened? I did not remove my pan but I backed all the bolts out about 3/4 to make room to get the bolt out of the pickup.
