2012 ZL1 Goodyear Tire OEM Replacements

Im finding out the original tires are no longer available for 2012.

Which Goodyear tire would be considered an equal replacement?

Goodyear F1 SuperCar 3 is the evolution of the F1 SuperCar G:2 that came on your ZL1. It's the same tire that is on the Gen6 SS 1LE and ZL1. It is available in 285/35-20 and 305/35-20.

One of the nice thing about the SuperCar 3's is that they are not directional, so you can rotate side-to-side.

Had a new set of Supercar 2's put on a couple of years ago, and earlier this summer got a screw to close to the sidewall in the front right. Turns out there were tons of lefts still left over in inventory, but no rights, so I ended up trashing the entire set of 2's which was frustrating.

If you don't track the car, I'd suggest Michelin PS 4S. Excellent tires with much better grip in all situations that aren't up to track temps.

I bought a new set of G2 ZL1 rears in the spring that I never put on because the set on the car still have some meat left and now I went to get a pair for the front and like said above there are only lefts to be had. I don't know what to do now I am so bummed.

Last year I ended up buying a new full set of the G2's plus a extra set for the rear which are on the car currently. I opted for the rear 305/35ZR20 size btw. But i ended up having to buy 2 left rears off of ebay. Then 2 right rears from a online tire dealer. Then the left front from another (different) online dealer and the right front from Walmart online. And i have never bought tires from Walmart before. So i do have a full set in storage along with the original rears 285/35ZR20 which have about 3/4 tread still left. I stocked up in case I do some track day events. I would consider selling the used 285's but shipping cost are insane. I saw how fast the G2 stock was dropping last year which is why I jumped when I did. I had initially planned on buying just a set of rears.

.
Just keep a eye out on ebay as i still see them showing up from time to time. Another option would be trying dealerships? I know it's a long shot but you never know? And if you could come up with the gm part# for the tires you need, a dealer could easily run a nationwide search. I had the part#'s last year but don't recall what they were.

pm sent your way

What do you think a pair of 305's in the G2 might fetch now with what is going on?

I run the Nitto's currenty. They are a better daily driver tire. You lose some performance at the track though as they feel like a harder compound. They also have a slightly shorter sidewall than stock OEM G2's so be aware of speed bumps on streets and driveway enter/exit angles.

I've run the current set of Nittos on some local tracks and they do fine. But I'll be putting on my last set of GY G2's I have in the garage soon and retire the Nittos. I mainly just do weekend drives and tracks as my ZL1 only has 16K on the odometor.

Then once the G2's burn off... and they do quickly at the track I'll grab a set of the newer G3's.

I tried getting G3 for the zl1, GY only had 3R for the rear and 3 for the front or vice versa. But they had no idea when they were going to produce more to get matched 305/285 sets. Couldn’t find any stores around me that had them on the shelf. Hopefully they produce some for 2022.

I guess it’s Michelins if no GY

I'm running the ultra high performance all-season B.F. Goodrich Comp 2s. Wanted the extra rain groove protection here in the monsoon South. Seem fairly sticky so far, but only have a few hundred miles on them.

How are noise leveLs compared to the original tires?
My GY only have 2900 miles but i dont like them with a little grit on the road. They spin easily. I dont notice any noise on my GYs though
