(Help) 2013 ZL1 with P1516 and P2101 at full throttle

Hi Guys

I just bought a 2013 ZL1, did few WOT runs, and then baaam!

Car went into "reduced engine power - service stabilitrak" , the car slows down to 10mph with P1516 and P2101 with check engine light on.

I tried to remove the battery terminal and the re plug it. Check engine light goes away. However, as soon as i go full throttle at high rpms, same thing happens check engine light on and reduced power.

Any idea what could be the issue? Throttle body issue? I noticed the car is running on 275/35/20 tires front and 315/35/20 rears, could this possibly cause the issue?

I will truely appreciate your help guys.

The car is modded too, intake, catless exhaust, pulley and dyno tune.

TB is a start, check both sides to confirm clean. Has it been upgraded to a larger TB? Added Ramp controller? If dirty clean, disconnect battery for a couple of hours, try again.

I had the same thing happening to me (GIMP MODE), turned out to be the throttle body. I installed a BBK 95mm and it flat out does not work with a supercharger, then discovered the spark plugs were misfiring (did not get indication for it).

All you can do is start at point A and work to point Z checking one thing at a time. Start with the intake system, check that the MAF is the OEM upgraded version and correct for your car. Throttle body, supercharger belt tension, by pass is correct and hoses installed correctly. Put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rails and check that as boost goes up so does the fuel pressure (stock pumps, BAP installed aftermarket pump system). Then go to the ignition system, plugs, plug wires and coils, all connectors correct and tight...

It took me along time to work out but my issues were the throttle body and spark plugs... Now it runs AWESOME!!!

If you bought a modded car and it's acting up talk to the previous owner. Maybe you can gain some insight as to what is the issue before just randomly swapping parts....

first look to disconnect the infamous throttle controller eg pic. from pedal harness or obd port, then diagnose as vicster said. can use scan tool as part of that process.

The car does not have throttle controller. Its factory.

Here is what I found out about your codes.

P1516 CHEVROLET code possible causes:
Faulty Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module harness is open or shorted
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module circuit poor electrical connection
Check Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module connector for water
Binding or bent throttle plate-failed throttle body

P2101 CHEVROLET code possible causes:
Faulty Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module harness is open or shorted
Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module circuit poor electrical connection

Most common causes:
Faulty Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module
- Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module harness is open or shorted
- Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) module circuit poor electrical connection
- Throttle plate sticking due to carbon build-up
- Engine Control Module

The Engine Control Module (ECM) is the control center for the Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) system. The ECM determines the drivers intent and then calculates the appropriate throttle response. The ECM achieves throttle positioning by providing a pulse width modulated voltage to the TAC motor. The TAC system uses the following circuits for Motor control 1 and Motor control 2.

Two processors are also used to monitor the TAC system data. Both processors are located within the ECM. Both processors monitor each other's data to verify that the indicated throttle position is correct.

So it maybe a wrong throttle setting in the ECM, do you have access to HP tuners? Or can you post your tune? Also list all engine, trans. and exhaust mods. So we can take a look, it maybe something simple...

Thank you Vicster. Actually i already shared the tune file with the tuner. Will keep everyone updated.

Car has, Rotofab intake, stright pipe to stock catback, 2.55 upper pulley, catch can, stock plugs and a dyno tune.
