Speed Engineering
Are speed engineering headers any good? I was thinking about them for a cheap but will get the job done pair of headers.

They are a great budget header and have been making LS parts for a long time.

They have worked well for me. I think fitment issues may be a little more common than more expensive brands, but mine had no issues.

Great budget headers. The provided header bolts and exhaust clamps suck, but reuse the factory bolts or get ARP bolts and grab a better pair of claps at the parts store, you will be set.
I run them and had them ceramic coated at a local shop. Mine required a little massaging on the passenger side, other then that, they have been great for about 8k miles.

I have a set on my truck and I have a set of Stainless Works on my vert. You can see the quality difference, but they work fine. No issues at all. I did not use the bolts that came with them either. IIRC, they were black oxide finish or at least black and rusty header bolts suck, so I used stainless.

I take a lot of pics so I can show you what fresh out the box looks like and how they are 3 1/2 years later. I bought the o2 sensor harness extensions as well.

If cheap, get the job done header is what you're after, then you're right on point. You'll likely have to massage them to fit, but they're cheap and will get the job done.

I’m a huge you get what you pay for proponent, as well as a buy American guy. I went with American Racing long tubes and high flow cats, but Jannetty replaced my cats with Kooks green cats to handle the boost. He also ceramic coated my headers.

They probably are made in china which sucks but they are good quality. I have their headers and 3" exhaust. All of it went on fine and I had no fitment issues. I've also heard people complain about the clamps but they worked fine for me. Not knocking anybody, but "you get what you pay for" isn't always true.

I just installed SE headers last night and the passenger side is touching my subframe, going to mark the area, take them off, and dimple them to clear it... but for $400 vs $1500+ I can't be upset about the extra work.

I prefer SLP....only ones who work with and for General Motors, so the quality is right, and the fitment is right. As for the factory bolts....throw them in the trash! If you use them long enough you will understand why. ARP is number 1 in fasteners so I use them. Agree with Royal Tiger....almost always you get what you pay for!
