ZL1 front bumper swap

So my 2010 front bumper is pretty chewed up from when she was a daily. LOTS of rock chips, some spider webbing and whatnot. I also have the GM GFX splitter which has seen better days and is super hard to find to replacement at a decent price. Ive been thinking of just swapping over to a ZL1 bumper. Any place still sell a complete conversion kit pre-painted at a decent price? Im trying to weigh my options on whats the best cost effective option here, pay a shop to work on my original bumper/splitter or swap to a pre-painted ZL1 front end

I doubt you'll find anyone that will sell a painted item that big. Most don't want to have to worry about the hassle if it gets damaged. A ZL1 bumper swap is a lot more than just the bumper though. The lights, harnesses, grilles, the body line for the hood, etc. Your best bet is to buy and take it to a body shop to have them paint it. Otherwise, just stick with fixing your stock stuff. I'd expect to pay around $2k or slightly more for a complete ZL1 swap including the paint work.

Yeah, I mean, I'm well aware of what's involved in the swap with parts and all... i was just wondering if anyone is still selling a full swap kit. No worries tho. Spoke with a neighbor who owns a few body shops and hes gonna take the car in a few weeks and touch up everything.

I think your best bet for a kit (non painted) is through Gen5DIY. I got mine from them years ago and it was perfect! They even take care of the body work to match your hood lines.

Thanks yea, thats what I was looking for. After talking with some car friends and now having the ability to have my neighbor do the paint work, im keeping my OEM front end. I love how it looks with the OEM GM GFX splitter and that its different than most other 5th gens I see at shows. She just needs some love. Next nice weekend ill be paint correcting the car to hold me over until the paint work

You can always do like I did. Everyone was doing the ZL1 front swap so I didn't want to look like "everyone" else doing that, or keep her stock, so I did my OWN thing with the front. Love it. You could also do something like this, or even the TS front bumper ports..

Its funny you say that because I have the same bumper ducts you have in my backseat waiting to be installed and a z28 splitter in an online shopping cart just waiting for me to grow the balls to order it lol

Some guys are putting Gen6 Zl1 bumpers on their GenVs. Not sure how that works, but they look cool.

FYI, I got my ZL1 bumper from Gen5DIY after I tore up the stock one getting it on the trailer in the rain.

Nah, no 6th gen ZL1 bumper for me... unless its attached to an actual 6th Gen ZL1 that is...

lol, that's too funny!! Yea, that's what she will look like!! Folks at the show always compliment on the look. They have never seen a front lower grille like that. And the splitter I have IS a Z28 splitter I got from RPI.. And that too gets a lot of attention. So there ya have it sir, the look... DO IT!! lol....

One of my buddies did this to his 2013 ZLI, it was a royal PITA he said!! Looked alright, but he had to do a lot of tweaking to get it to fit right. Personally not a fan of it, just does't match the rest of the car.
