Fuel System Upgrades?

Ok guys, I have my stuff coming in from GPI in the next few months and hope to go up to Arkansas from Houston sometime in March to have them do all the work.

I am getting a mild cam, ported heads done with a bump in compression to around 11:5.1 if possible on 93 tune. Hoping for 440rwhp give or take 20.

-What is the benefit of E85 on 11:5.1? I know on 10:4.1 it will be like 4rwhp if that but could that extra point be worth 15-20rwhp on an NA motor? A friend has a stock LS3 vette at 10:7.1 and he got 7rwhp and about 10ftlbs of torque but he said it was throughout the whole power curve and he felt the engine was slightly more responsive in the butt dyno. So what happens when I bring that up to 11:5.1 or could I possibly go higher with 93 and run e85 when I went to something like 12:1? I know the LT1 guys are seeing 20rwhp+ plus but they are direct injection and 11:5.1 factory compression.

I am thinking about GPI running both a 93 tune map and e85. Which leads me to the next question.

While the motor is getting the whole top end done should I put in bigger injectors and maybe think about a zl1 pump for possible future mods with e85 and possible a wet kit down the road with a 100-150 shot? I don't think I will every go supercharged at this point. It is just to much money and if I ever want more I think a wet kit for 3-4k will be my limit.

Was thinking at a minimum zl1 injectors with pump or possibly much bigger injectors with e85, like 850cc to 1050cc. I am not sure about the zl1 pump limit though on e85. Lets say 600rwhp is max goal on spray.

Also, does E85 help with nitrous in anyway as I know it usually runs the motors a little cooler?

Thanks again for input

To be clear I want my duty cycle at 80% at WOT. I won't be surprised if I am over that with stock 42lb injectors with just the heads and cam GPI is doing and I want to make sure I have more than enough fuel with all this money I am spending on the motor and some room to grow in the future if I want.

80% duty cycles is about the max you’d want to go, zl1 pump is good for about 600whp but that’s gonna be pushing it .. most put on a BAP to supplement the zl1 pump ..

Most don’t gain much running e85 on a NA motor , has better results on boosted applications , running e-85 hard on your fuel system as you need to pump much more of it . As far as running an e85 tune - I’m running a dsx flex fuel sensor kit and running on a 90 tune , once I put in e-85 into the mix the sensor picks it up and sends it to the ecu to increase timing .. so with that you only need one tune .

I guess you would need two tunes if you don’t decide to use a flex fuel sensor .

I would not do e85 without a fuel composition sensor. Too much risk IMO and I'm pretty reckless. You would definitely need bigger than stock injectors since it has a cam and that may make the juice not worth the squeeze.

e85 works with nitrous, but it does not work as well as gasoline. Nitrous needs heat in the cylinder to break the bond of the N2O molecule and e85 reduces cylinder temperatures.
