Fresh Dyno

Just got my first dyno run today. 585 rwhp! See mods below. Could have hit 600 if we would have tuned it to max, but this is my DD and I told him to keep my tune safe. This is my DD 585 rwhp, I did all of the work myself. Nothing blew up! Pretty damn proud.

Of course, I see I am only 15 hp away from 600 so naturally I want to do something new. Cam? TB and port the snout? Drive assembly with smaller upper pulley and bigger harmonic balancer? Who knows?

He is emailing my results, I will post tomorrow.

You won't get 15 rwhp from a more aggressive tune.

What upper pulley is on it?

What air intake is on it?

What cam is in it?

My ZL1 makes 600wheel with a clean filter and cool air with just a 2.4 upper pulley, ported stock throttle body(VMax), K&N intake, no cats, injectors and a tune.

Putting in a LS9 cam would do it and still drive like stock with zero spring/rocker arm issues.

I have a 2.8 upper on a ZL1 lower. Stock TB, Roto-Fab CAI, LT headers, dual fuel pump, 100# injectors. The tuner (Sand Ridge Dyno) recommends BTR’s new cam that works great with an LSA.

My reluctance with porting the snout is the wait. If I did that I would likely send the blower to Kong to have the whole thing ported. This is my daily, so the wait is a problem.

He told me his dyno is a “mustang” (not Ford related), he said that a dyno jet measures 10-15 hp higher than his usually. So on a dyno jet I may have gone over 600. Hard to say. Either upgrade (or both?!?) would easily put me in the 600s.

If you have enough injector, and fuel pump, just throw a 2.55 on there. I just did a 2.38 (with a ctsv lower) and see about 16 psi. It made 620/650 through an auto on E85 with 22.5 degrees timing. And I have the V lid, which is supposed to be worse than the Z

How much boost are you seeing?

Nice results, especially if you still need to pass emissions.

My car picked up 50 wheel with a 2.4 upper pulley over the stock pulley. That's on 93 pump fuel.

I get in the high 8s for boost. I am thinking of going to a smaller pulley and a 10% lower. But the dyno shop said I should go to an 8 run system if I am going to do that. I got some belt slip with my 6 rib setup.

Thanks! Here in Wisconsin no emissions checks to worry about.

I have the stock ZL1 belt setup and just a 2.4 pulley up top with zero slip, mine will touch 14lbs on a cold day.

Put a Gates RPM belt on it.

If it is a stock style ZL1 setup in no way should it slip with stock pullies.

I have an LS3 engine, so my ZL1 crank runs two belts not three (AC and serpentine). I have a LSX kit that uses spacers to put the single belt in line with the blower and crank pulleys. It is a six rib setup. It looks like my choices are to modify where my alternator and AC are and go to a full ZL1 setup. Or find 8 rib pulleys to go with my current setup. Innovators West makes 8 rib pulleys, I’m just not sure that is all I will have to do. The water pump is still a 6 rib width. I use a gates micro v belt.

See if Gates makes an RPM belt for it.

Here is the dyno report. Numbers were actually a little higher than what he told me.

Now, cam, pulleys, port snout and bigger TB, or suspension. Nothing wrong, so no immediate fixes needed. Don’t know which one to do. Pulleys probably easiest. If I did a cam doing the pulleys at the same time makes sense, but there are budget constraints. Porting is easy too, but have to send it off and this is my DD. Suspension might be the smart move, but I am concerned the upgrade will leave the ride stiff. What would you do?

What is your goal/use for the car? If curves are involved, suspension upgrades.

Very nice on 8 psi. Shoot for the 12 psi range on E85.
