STP octane booster
Never tried this stuff before, but I just took the SS out for a spin today since the temps here in OH were in the 40s. It's been in the garage all winter, so as usual, it was running like crap. As usual, I didn't think of putting stabilizer in the tank before winter, haha. It was at about 1/4 tank of gas, and I didn't want to fill 'er up since I know I won't be driving it much for a while yet.
So, figured I'd try the booster. I'm guessing it probably doesn't do much, but it said "made with jet fuel", so I just had to try it I also put about 4 gallons of fresh 93 in. She's happy now! When I first fired her up, I was getting 'service stabilitrak" messages, and if I tried to accelerate fast, the engine would stutter, and exhaust would crackle and pop. Car was NOT happy. Then again, it's tuned for 93. All is well now, and a quick trip on the highway confirms the engine is back to its usual NASCAR-sounding self As for next winter, if I add some stabilizer to the tank when I put the car away, would that help avoid these issues? I try to leave just a little gas in the tank before storing (like 1/4 tank or less). Figure there's no point in filling up and just parking it for several months.

Fill it up and add sta-bil for the winter. Filling it will prevent condensation from forming.

This and I like the sta-bil 360 if it's parked for a bit.

Fill is as full as you can, less air equals less moisture. Why *not* fill it, you think gas will be cheaper next spring? Consider it an investment
![]() Jet fuel claim is fun marketing but jet fuel in your car would not go well for you. About on par with trying diesel or kerosene. |
