i got a guy at my high school talkin trash saying his 73 vette would pull me in any racing situation. it's a mildly built 350 as he says (claims 315rwhp/400rwtq), stock automatic transmission, and stock rear end. my ls3 is bone stock. what do you guys think would happen if we were to run??? i'm sure i'd get him, but need you guys input before i go runnin my mouth wagering and such

there's an 1/8th and 1/4 mile track around where i live, so i'd like to see what he's got. i'm jk on the wagerin part. i race on the track for fun

Ask him the ratio of the rear-end. Anything lower (higher number) than a 3.50 (3.73, 4.10, 4.56) and I'd go with a drivers race. Put a round of beer on it for shits and giggles!

Driver's race! He'll probably beat you off the line, so you need to go to the 1/4 mile strip. You'll need the extra 1/8 of the mile to overtake him, considering your LS3 should have a good 50 HP over him.

he's got 3.08 gears if that helps any. it's an auto i'm a stick but i'm only 17, not a perfect driver but i can row the gears some of my friends say, even my grandpa who's had many muscle cars complemented on my driving.

we've raced my truck against the car. my 3.5 inline 5 cylinder automatic colorado with 3.42 gears, intake, no cats, flowmaster exhaust, and a 93 octane tune, and i kept up with him till about 45 or so then he up and left me. which makes me think he's biting off more than he can chew.

reading this post ^^ makes me think you'll definitely take him. I'd keep your traction control ON, don't try and do too much or show off...just go beat his azz.

If you stay focused on your driving you'll beat him!! Use launch cotrol to not spin the tires and don't miss a shift..... Have fun !!

funny thing about his car is. the gears are so long it sounds like he's in one gear the whole time. haha now that i have the reassurance of camaro5, the trash talking will commense

Based on this your car should outrun his. Since you admit you're not a perfect driver (perhaps some apprehension) put it in comp. mode and you shouldn't have any problems with the speed/traction. Your biggest concern will be keeping it straight and handled well.
