Water Deionizer = no water spots

This thing makes washing so much easier and no hand drying so less chance of creating swirls.. Steve Pasztor is a distributor of Tropi-Care products, he has one of these, he showed it to me, he uses his for mobile detailing. He has different water qualities whereever he may be and he details in the sun.

I got mine at:

http://www.portablewaterdi.com/

I washed my Black Camaro in the sun and just let it dry... no water spots at all...not to mention the time saved..

It's a little expensive, but people spend so much on detailing product any way I saw this as well worth it.

A little too small

That griots one would work fine, if I didn't have 2 black and a dark blue car all to keep spot free..

Just looked at that one it's a softener...not the same process as de-ionization.. I looked into softeners because they could be renewed with table salt...but they don't work as well for the purpose of car washing...

Griot's de-ionizer is more expensive than the one I mentioned. Griots does have really good detailing stuff though.

For approx $65, you can buy a set up (housing) and (cartridge) from me and if you only use it for final rinsing (which is all that is required) it can last you at least 30 washes. The the replacement cartridge is only $20... and this is before your 10% discount.

Chris,

Are you just rinsing with this on the hose and letting it air dry or do you still have to wipe it down? I have an IBM and it is plenty of work to get it dry and make sure there are no water spots, as we definitely have hard water in my neighborhood.

I have to check this out, I use the leave blower on mine and it works awesome, but this would be faster if this really works.

I actually purchased my business model one at Costco. The one's we carry on our site are nearly the same in quality and function, just a heck of a lot cheaper, easier to use, and friendly for the end consumer.

You can let it air dry as long as the car is not baking in the sun. Preferably, early morning, you can let it air dry. If you can't help but wash your car on Sat afternoon in 90 degree blazing sun then I would suggest adding a Waffle Weave Drying Towel and laying it on the car, patting it dry (not rubbing, sliding, massaging, etc.) then flipping it and moving on to the next spot. These towels are huge and very absorbent so you can still dry your car in a few minutes without leaving scratches or swirls.

Exactly, the water just slides right off, especially if it is a touch up wash and the car has a good coat of sealant or wax.

Ideally, I would invest in both a hard water canister/filter set, a waffle weave towel (as mentioned above) but also a quality, professional vac/blower

These are the lowest prices you should find on the net, if not, I will match them and provide a break on shipping, etc.

This isn't the same thing as deionized water. This is just softened water. I have no doubt that it works like advertised, but it's a different solution than what the OP was talking about.

If it's cheaper and works, I don't see the problem, but it's still not the same as a de-ionizing system

I have one of the two stage water softener set ups . one for the trapping of sediment and the second to remove minerals . It works ok , but it won't work as well as the de-ionizer . It's all about the money your willing to spend. I have been seriously debating getting one of the de-ionizer setups. I think I may break down this spring and get one .

It does work perfect.. A good chunk of money but worth it in my opinion.

And as said before, DI is different than softening.
