OnStar Navigation and lowering the volume

I tried OnStar Turn by Turn for kicks today and found the speech volume annoying. It lowers the music and starts giving the directions you have to take... and says stupid little things "Take a right in half a mile" 5 seconds later "Take a right after 375 yards"

Anyone know how to disable the speech?

If it's anything like my CTS was you lower the volume while nav is talking and it should leave radio volume where it was.

I beleive there are options in your Onstar manual, read the different settings and voice commands to control the voice.

v6Sonoma had it right. If you decrease the volume when the OnStar speech is in progress, it will lower the volume of the speech.

However it still does lower your music volume whenever you have to take a turn. I want to just get rid of the whole speech thing so I can listen to music peacefully. If you press the "phone" button when it is talking, it actually skips the speech and goes back to the music, but it only does it for that direction and not the whole route... so right now I have to press the "phone" icon every time the thing starts to talk... annoying!

Like I said, look at the manual, you can turn it off. But I don't remember the command.

After you hit the call button and it says it is ready, you need to give the command "MUTE DIRECTIONS". Problem is it doesn't give you any kind of audio signal that your turn is coming up, so you have to pay more attention. It will speak if you miss a turn, by asking you if you want to recalculate.
