Remote Start Distance question / observation

On my car I can lock/unlock the doors from a much further distance than I can start the car. If I unlock the doors far away and then press the start button, i get nothing at some distances. Moving closer to the car I can then lock / remote start. There is at least a 50ft difference between the two.


Anybody else notice this?

This has been mentioned several times in previous threads. Apparently, the remote start doesn't have much range. What you are reporting has been the experience of others.

LOOK UP AT THE RED.....If this is what you are actually doing, that is part of your problem. For remote starting, FIRST you hit the LOCK buttom and then immeditially hold the start button till it starts, usually about 4-5 seconds. I started mine this afternoon from about 100 feet. works like a champ.

I don't have remote start on my Camaro because I got the LS3 but on my HHR SS I can remote start that thing from at least 50 yards away. I would assume it's the same on the Camaro. I'd try to swap out the battery.

That was just a typo. i know how to start the car, which is why i noticed the distance issue. thanks though.

sounds like its a known issue as some others have apparently experienced it. i will ask the dealer, i wish the range was a bit further.
