Air Fuel Imbalance CEL
Hey whats up guys, I just bought my Camaro and it came with Headers and Borla Exhaust with a K & N CAI. The check engine light wasnt on when I bought it but came on on my ride home which was about 2.5 hours. The guy I bought it from said that it had no tunes, or internal engine work done to it ( its a 2010 with only 23.5k miles on it) So I am thinking that the reason for the CEL is that it wasnt tuned after he put headers and a CAI on it . Do any of you on here know if this is a valid reason for the CEL to be on ? The code is P219B which is air fuel imbalance so im guessing that it is from the headers. Im new to the engine performance side of things so bear with me. I had a 2010 Synergy Edition V6 that I just tinted the windows and enjoyed it so not real familiar with the engine work side of things. TIA

It probably needs tuning, but I'm not sure that I would expect that code to pop. That indicates that 1 cylinder in bank 2 is reading different AFR from the others. I would probably start by looking for an exhaust leak at the header.

yeah my initial thought was just take it to a mechanic and have it looked at but then I did some research and thought maybe just a tune would correct the issue. Sounds like probably best course of action would be mechanic first.

It's not impossible that it's a tune issue, just probably not as likely with that code. I would probably go 60%-40%. Finding a speed shop that tunes and more would be your best shot.
You realize that the seller probably cleared the code prior to selling but knew it would come back? |

Oh yeah im pretty sure thats exactly what happened lol. but I dont know he might not have because the car only got driven 100 miles in 2 years (It was an old mans toy and then got in an accident (tore up the fender, radiator support, hood and bumper) totaled the car and the guy i bought it from rebuilt it but according to carfax it was bought in Feb 2021 with 23350 on it and when I bought it it had 23450 so im pretty sure he rebuilt it tested it out once or twice and the check engine light jsut hadnt come on yet. Its hard to tell both options are plausible.
