Summit White Owners Question

Do any of you have on the top of your front struts, a discoloration, almost like toasted marshmellow color? Mine has been like that from the day I bought it, and I cannot find any reason as to why. I would think heat, but cant see anything that would get that hot in that area!

Yeah, my car has this. Definitely looks like a burnt marshmallow.

Are you talking about the top of the strut towers? If so, when you drive your Camaro the struts will move up and down and around a bit in the opening where they go down inside the fender, and in doing so the rubber "grommet" or cushion or whatever you want to call it will sometimes touch the top of the tower under it and "discolor" it to make it look "burnt" where it rubbed. No big deal and they are designed that way to do that. So I have read on here in the suspension section.

That pretty much sums it up. Only real solution would be to buy some camber caster plates, which will mount your front struts in a fixed position. But for a daily driver it isn't really necessary. I also see little bits of rubber up there too. I think its jsut part of the design and us folks with white cars just gotta look at the discoloration. My car has all new coilovers and isolators and it actually got worse when I changed everything out.

Yeppers. No way around it except like you said, caster/camber plates, but on a daily streeter, not needed. My Camaro being RJT, and the strut towers NOT being finished painted and cleared from the factory, I also have that ugly burnt look where the rubber rubs on it from time to time.

Yes sir! Very welcome! And no on your other reply, it's not just a white car issue. Mine has been like that for a long time! And I have noticed other Camaros with the "burnt ring". lol.

BCRacing Coilovers I got them direct from Phastek with a discount. I installed them straight out of the box and the car rides great. Decent price for coilovers and excellent ride quality. They have 32 adjustment "clicks" so you can make it ride like stock, or like a racecar with just a few clicks of the adjustment screw. I love them, and honestly wouldn't go back to the coil/strut design.

You may want to check out the toilet mod to eliminate the gap.

ARE THESE MOSTLY TO CHANGE RIDE HEIGHT?
wether it be for looks or lower center of gravity and better cornering G forces

or are the shocks better than stock too
