Illuminated footwell lighting with the M6

So I took delivery of a 2024 2SS M6 back in September. The footwell lighting was not installed at the time of delivery and I was told to schedule service to get it installed. The dealer is now telling me that it cannot be installed, as it interferes with the clutch.

It does not exactly seem reasonable to me. Does anybody here with a six-speed have this illuminated footwell package? Has anybody installed it themselves?

EDIT: Thread can be deleted or ignored...simple youtube search shows that the techs at my dealer are either stupid or lazy.

Your dealer is very shady. I ordered my 2024 with the footwell lighting and they installed it during PDI.

The clutch comes NOWHERE near it.

Now, my dealer told me they had to program the system. So your dealer needs to get on the phone with GM tech support and go through the programming after they install the hardware. It is also a hardwired system, not a simple "plug and play".

If your dealer is unaware of this or not trained on this, they should be.

I hope it goes well for you. I really hate dealers that don't know their product and you have to explain it to them as a customer and hope they'll believe you.

Interesting, the same kit for my 2018 model year 2SS worked automatically without any software updates (I installed it myself). Not saying your dealer is wrong, but it's surprising, because on the 3LT, 2SS and ZL1 trims this is a simple physical extension of the interior spectrum lighting kit with two more LED bulbs and some wires, there is nothing to program per se...

I installed the lighting in my 21 ZL1 and even though my car is an a10... I can easily see there would and is no issue if there would be a clutch there or not, lol. This is my install:

Amazon 15$. 30 mins install to the 12v power supply feeding the cigarette lighter adapter under the center console. Mounted the controller with some velcro down to the right of my knee next to the throttle control module. Also has a remote you could keep on your keychain if that works better for you

Did this come as a separate line order? How do you know if your car should have had it or not?

It is a separate package, check your window sticker and it should be a seperate line along the lines of footwell lighting

Dealership has finally given up. They mailed me the part and I will have to do it myself. Chevrolet mailed me a letter giving me $500 worth of dealership credit for accessories/labor and I have 45 days to use it. For accessories...on a fully loaded car that I had custom ordered with everything that I desired on it.

Man, I thought buying two cars from a dealer within a month would mean something.

Guess I'll be on the phone with Chevrolet Customer Service for a bit.

I'm not excusing the dealership not knowing how to do something they should be able to do according to Chevrolet, but at least they didn't TRY to do it, not knowing what they were doing, and **** your car up more (and then probably cover up the mistakes). Be glad they at least admitted they were out of their comfort zone and kept you from a bigger and potentially hidden, problem.

Here's an idea....
That dealer is retarded. You obviously can't use the $500 in accessories and I wouldn't recommend you trust them to do any oil changes, you could possibly use some of that $500 to buy filters from the parts department? I buy my PF64 from my dealer because surprisingly I haven't found them cheaper anywhere else.

Sorry you had this experience man.
Please don't let it ruin the enjoyment of that sexy fantastic beast you have.

I have it in mine, but it's an A10. It was installed during the PDI. I kind of recall an conversation with the Sales Mgr., that they had someone that they brought in that does this kind of install for their dealerships. So be glad they didn't muck it up with someone that was untrained on how to do it. Also, sounds like that's not the dealer to have your service done in the future. Check with other Dealers in your area that have done it before.
That's a pretty Ride you have there.
