Stripe removal question

Hi everyone and Happy New Year

I’m considering moving up fro my 2010 2SS RS to a 2015 S2SS RS.
Anything I should be aware of?

Also, do you know if the factory stripes can be removed? If so how hard is it to do.

Thanks!!!

Can't be that hard. My 19yo did his in the garage. Look it up on YT. Just use a regular hair dryer- not a heat gun. A heat gun is way too aggressive.

If you're lucky and the stripes are in good condition, it will come off in large chunks.

Just be sure that's what you want to do. Factory ones are hard to find and you'll have to buff out the paint to even it all out.

depending on the color of the car and how much time it has spent in the sun you may have a little bit of "ghost striping" going on at certain angles once they have been removed.ive removed non factory stripes by heating them a little with the wifes hair dryer and pulling them off but you could pay a shop to remove them if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

Josh is correct. I just removed mine and though I had no fading issues, you can tell where the stripes were until you buff it.

I bought a Bissel Steam cleaner gun off of Amazon. The stripes came right off. As stated above, you will need to buff the hood, trunk and spoiler or else you will see where the stripes were sitting. Removing them took me 30 minutes if that with the steam cleaner, no glue residue... Best $40 I ever spent. It also works really good removing emblems, badges and it isn't half bad to give to your wife when your done for cleaning around the house.
