Need new front struts

Finally decided to change my front struts because of the loud bang over certain bumps. Unfortunately, GM has discontinued them. Any recommendations on an after market replacement that is as good or better? Thanks in advance

I hear Bilstein B6s are amazing but I have no experience in this field as I'm still running OEM struts.

Koni sport is another great choice for Camaro. I installed them on my 2015 1LE when I got the banging on certain bumps with the stock front shocks.

My car had brm lowering springs on it when I bought it. I replaced the stuts with Koni ,s about 2 years ago. Very pleased with their performance.

Hey CD. I know you are looking at coil overs (maybe you already got them in... need to browse your thread again ). I was wondering, do you know if the B6's will change our stock ride height for the 1LE? I recall reading somewhere that they may actually increase the wheel gap? REALLY don't want that. If they preserve our stock 1LE ride height, then I will be going with these sometime in future. Just curious what you know about them.

Most people that ran them always used Pfadt (AFE Power) or BMR lowering springs. DSE (Detroit Speed Engineering) is another good option. The B6s were heavily praised at a point in time.

I did find this thread from Katech. Looks like it may raise with stock springs. Probably the same one you read already.

Im going to be upgrading to Pedders Extreme XA coilovers with the fancy remote canister. But thats later down the road. Motor install is first on the modification list.

Gotcha. Thanks so much sir! I did find that thread after posting to you. But still glad I asked... seemed a bit uncertain in the thread how the 1LE may be affected. I will look into those springs, had not considered that option (was originally thinking would just keep the stock springs). Appreciate the feedback!

Looking forward to your thread updates!

I like the Bilstein B6s a lot. I prefer them with factory springs but also ran them with Hotchkis springs. That combo was a bit too much for me a couple of times so I reverted to stock springs. B6s and stock springs seems like what GM should’ve put in these cars. The stock shocks sure ride nice but leave a bit to be desired.

Thanks for that feedback Pearlj. I sure have consistently read/heard good things about the B6 setup. Would really like to end up there, just go with the B6s and call it "done" (having trouble justifying coilovers ONLY for sake of duplicating my current ride height). Sounds like the Hotchkis springs were a bit harsh for street/DD use?

Harshness is completely subjective. People DD ZL1 1LEs and Z/28s which are all solid bushings and DSSV dampers. But id say BMR is always a good option same with AFE.

On my Camaro I'm still running the stock shocks and struts, replaced about 5-6 years ago, but also am running the Pfadt (AFE) 1.25 lowering springs and solid rear subframe bushings. I like the ride. Was going to do coilovers, but didn't want to spend that much money. A couple of my Camaro friends are also running the Pfadt springs after they rode in, and drove my Camaro.. They're happy..

Pearlj10. What didn't you like about the B6/ Hotckis combo? I am running these springs and was thinking of adding the B6.
