Camaro v6 or Trans am v8 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

My friend has a v8 1999 trans am and im getting the 1Lt camaro v6. i dont plan on racing him but i was just wondering how you think the v6 camaro would stand up to that car. i think the trans am has around the same horsepower but a bunch more torque naturally. his is standard and mine will be automatic.

He'll destroy you. Fourth gen LS1's run a very similar quarter mile as the Fifth gen SS's. Power to weight ratio is in his favor.

Well then. lol. Its a good thing im not into racing then. I am getting the camaro for its awesomeness and as a daily cruiser, not for racing power and speedabiity so I'm ok with the fact that he could easily smoke me. He's also into driving insane speeds, which I am not. Unless Im late for work an dont want to miss out on that extra 15 bucks from double overtime for getting there on time, lol.

My 02 SS ran easy 13.5's. The 1LT will get smoked by the LS1.
