Coilover characteristics
for those who have swapped to coilovers and lowered an inch, would you say it's possible to come away with a better than factory ride?

I've just done this swap on my 13 2LT. I'm still dialing in the spring tension, but so far it did seem a bit more comfortable over bumps than the stock setup.
Really depends on what you're looking for. I tracked the car on stock springs, and it did ok. My impression so far is that the coilovers would perform better on track when adjusted for it. |

The main reason I went with coilovers was for their adjust-ability in both height and damping. Although I haven't messed with the height since the initial install, it's nice to know I have the option to raise or lower the car if I ever needed to. I am roughly 1.25" lower than stock, which I think it right in the sweet spot.
The damping settings is really where coilovers shine. For the most part, I usually have mine set about in the middle but leaning towards the softer side. If I start to go towards the harder settings, the wonderful roads in PA will force me to dial them back. But the nice part is you can really make them as hard or soft as you want to match your own driving needs and/or road conditions. |
