Question OEM parking brake assembly

Has anyone had success finding a source for this part? Or have suggestions for after market replacement that's not the racing/drifting type?

My parking brake gave out. The ball at the end of the assembly cable broke off and of source that part is not sold separately, its the whole handle assembly (GM 22747943). That assembly is also on back-order with no dealership having stock. Several shops that I've called whose website says they can get it, actually don't have it (frustrating). I'm just looking for a solution here as not having the parking brake for a manual in a hilly area is tough. Found a shop that will install a part if I find it since its hard to source at the moment.

Anyone been able to source this thing?

It appears your only "easy" option is to order one and wait.

Another last resort option, if I understand the damage correctly, is to have a new cable stop end attached to the end of the cable. If the inner cable itself broke, you still may be able to get it repaired, but it would help if you had the right length of the inner cable. Someone in your area HAS to build cables and industrial stuff.

I know there's an industrial hose shop I've used in my area to build custom A/C hoses for different cars, and they look and fit like they were factory-made. Maybe check the industrial company listing there in the area where you are for a cable repair/manufacturing facility. There used to be a motorcycle shop here that made their own custom cables for modified motorcycles, but they closed and moved out. Maybe talk to a custom motorcycle shop locally if one's around?

Completely different situation... I had a wire rope cable that secured the spare tire on my Hummer H2. Couldnt get one from any dealers, and they were crazy expensive. I stopped by a local "wire rope" shop and they made me one up in just a couple of minutes for less than 10 bucks. I agree with el ess a, try an industrial supplier or google wire rope manufacturers in your area... Good luck

I read a write up recently and I thought it was on here as to how to make your own, I think Gulf Coast Driveshaft makes cables as well.
